We tightened things up defensively. We are playing defense well and we did the small things like getting fly balls and moving our runners over.

We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.

I thought in the second half our defense was a little bit better. We tightened up some things and changed a couple of things.

It's playing defense, diving after loose balls, sprinting back on defense to break up a fast break. People forget sometimes that these are 18- and 19-year-old young adults. They go through so many personal things while playing college basketball and taking college courses.

You hope they'd have to coach that, ... just like a team that gives you a funky look on defense. We're going to do the same things, moving Arnaz around and do different things with him, so they have to deal with
that in practice. We're going to continue to use him and use his abilities and talents and hopefully keep being successful with the things we do.

We have been playing good team defense. The players are really helping each other out defensively and doing the things we are supposed to be doing. If we get a little bit of offense to go with our defense, we really believe that we can play with any team in that region.

He does a lot of things. Gets his hands on a lot of balls, hits the boards, defense. He has a lot of talent. He can shoot the ball. He can make a lot of things happen.

I think defensively we picked things up. We scrapped for loose balls. They beat us to loose balls in the first half. I thought down the stretch, we negated that.

That's part of the little things. Tonight we had the one big inning, then we just chipped away. It's sound baseball - moving runners over with less than two outs, scoring runs with sacrifice flies, not giving away at-bats. You aren't going to score every time you do that, but if you do it consistently, good things will happen.

I think there is a menu of things he does very well and I think there are things that he is coming along at. Really, it's an evolution with those guys. Brian Westbrook we had a small package for when he was a rookie. So, it's moving along and he is doing all right.

We're trying to accomplish things. Playing a lot of people. Doing some things, playing some full-court pressure, play our bench. But always what happens, when you get in the heat of the battle, competitive juices flow, and our guys got juiced up a bit and really executed defensively and carried over the offensive end.

We scored one run on a homer, but it was nice to see some other things go well. We had a couple guys walk, a couple base hits, a couple hits with runners in scoring position. Those are the little things you have to do to win. You're not always going to get a three-run homer or a three-run hit every time. You have to do the small things, and that's what we did today.

They did some things early on in there that threw us some curve balls. On defense, they did a real good coaching job on that part. We had to kind of struggle to get things going again, but we did control the ball, which is a big deal.

We are really happy that things went our way and we got the two wins at home. We have focused back on defense and mixing things up. They played the last two games really well defensively.

It really comes back to things we can control. Playing defense and communicating are two things we need to work on. I look at it as a challenge. If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. It's things we can fix, and I'm hoping sooner than later. I'm the coach. I have to keep stressing this in practice.
