He was really raw when he came in, but he has a lot of talent. I asked him in the beginning of the season, and he didn't even know what his times were [at Brother Martin]. He's been like a surprise kid in this league. You have to have depth, and he's an X-factor for us.

At the beginning of the season, we set a bunch of goals, and this was one of them. Coach [Tina Martin] asked us if we wanted to be part of history, and that's all everybody was talking about today, 20 wins. A couple people wrote it on their shoes.

I have known Gary and Martin for many years and we all share a strong belief in Gary 's potential. Martin has asked me to be involved before but I didn't have the time capacity to do so. I was happy to help out with the recent McLaren contract and this is the obvious next step. Martin Hines has done a great job for Gary to get him this far.

Waver has a rather small team this season, and they just didn't have the depth to hang with us. At this point in the season, we are just trying to get through our last couple of meets and get ready for the league meet.

It's one of the best moments in my career, it's unbelievable - if at the beginning of the season you had asked me if I was going to play in the Champions League final I would not have staked ?1 on it.

It seems like this entire season we were under this black cloud of injuries and illnesses. At the beginning of the season we had a lot of depth, and it took a lot of depth to get through this year. But in gymnastics injuries happen. It's just a matter of working through it.

It wouldn't matter what year this was, winning a league title ... we didn't even dream of that at the beginning of the season. We lost four starters from last season, so we're a young team and the future looked bright. We just didn't think the future would be here yet. It's not what I thought we'd finish. You've gotta' have some talent, but you've gotta' have some depth. Depth is just as important as talent at this level. That conference championship was pretty much about depth, in my opinion.

If you would have asked me at the beginning of the season, I'd have said Oregon would be in the top five (in the league). On paper, they've got a really good team. That's why you never go in there and say we're going to beat them. They've got the personnel to beat us.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

There is no league that can refurbish its rosters as quickly as this league, and I think the coaches have done that once again. The Southeast is as talent-laden as there is in the country. Coaches can go out and get (good) players rather quickly so it doesn't surprise me that our league is strong this year.

Kansas has the talent, the athleticism and the depth to be at the top in this league. They are right there.

With some of the questions we have in our major-league bullpen, we wanted to acquire as much talent as we could to create depth and to create competition. Our pitching depth, we feel real good about. It's as good as we've felt about it in Triple-A.

We have a lot of juniors and sophomores who've shown a lot of promise. They've done such a great job in the practices and the scrimmages, that's really going to increase our depth over the course of the season. We've got a lot more depth than the teams we've had in the past, and I expect us to compete with the rest of the league.

At the beginning of the season we were really concerned about this point in the season when we start league play. We've taken our league for granted a little bit the past couple of years. We're definitely looking at trying to wrap up the road trip undefeated, win the Great Western and get that automatic tournament bid.
