en They've really got their work cut out for them. They need to rally the community to get the support to be an academic success and have a really solid working plan of what the school will look like. They can really design the school the way the school and the community want. If they can come up with that plan, enrollment shouldn't be a problem. It's a challenge, but they can do it.

en An old student of Miss Brown's came to the classroom to tell them what happens if they aren't in school. He said that he was in and out of jail and homeless, and pretty much that you have to stay in school.

en Mentors are a little different than a volunteer, ... There are more volunteers at the high-school level than any school in the district. They aren't just all focused on academics.

en They have to go to school. It's required. They play on the playground. They walk to school and parents aren't there to supervise and say, 'Hey, stay away from that guy over there.' We think that deserves a zone of protection.

en It's unfair and I feel bad for them. I don't think anyone downtown thought that anyone would get hurt from this (open enrollment). I believe any student athlete who transfers because of open enrollment, which was OK'ed by the school board, should be allowed to play.
