en At the beginning of the year, he knocked off a guy that was top 20 and then he lost the very next match. So it reminds me he's a freshman, but I think since then he's really shown a lot of maturity and progressively gotten better. She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world.

en You could say this is a building year, but based on what our younger players have shown, we could be pretty strong. Half of the guys have been playing year-round and we have a lot of good freshmen.

en We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

en Half of our kids quit at one time or another during the season. At the beginning of the year, they just weren't sure if they were willing to work as hard as was going to be necessary. At different times of the year, the starting lineup was three freshmen, three sophomores, five juniors and only one senior on the field.

en When you replace a Jeremiah a year ago and try to replace Hugh this year, we would never ask those guys to be those players. We just ask them to bring what they bring to the table, and hopefully it'll add to what we already have. But I would never say anybody could replace what we lost in Hugh. No one person could ever do that for us. Because what he brought wasn't just on the field, but in the locker room also.

en We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

en You had two freshmen (Hiram Thompson and Dominic Waters) in there together and we weren't able to rest some of the other guys and I think it caught up to us in the second half. I think we lost a little bit of control of the game right there at the end (of the first half).

en It was definitely our depth that won this match. We won at the four, five and six singles positions. Last year a lot of the time we'd win matches at one, two and three. This was how we wanted to replace (former Duck Daria) Panova and I felt like we did it.
