Unlike their colleagues across the Capitol, the House Budget Committee refrained from undermining the federal budget process and kept Arctic drilling out of its spending plan. Sadly, they also kept out enough funding for clean water, clean air and other public health and natural resources protections, which were cut by about 10 percent.

We applaud those in Congress who have refused to let drilling proponents manipulate them and the democratic process. We see a lot of merit in the bill, but it is a budget issue. It would have to be worked out as part of the budget process.
