en It almost feels around here sometimes like we didn't make them [the playoffs] because everyone is so disappointed with the way we finished, ... I still say it's an accomplishment to make the playoffs in the NHL, but we're not sitting here saying we are satisfied. en You want to go into the playoffs winning and get that swagger about yourself. If you go into the playoffs losing, you don't feel that great about yourself and teams look at the things you didn't do well and try to key on those things and make you look bad. You want to build up as the season progresses along.

en When we started this year we had a goal of winning the World Series. We didn't make the playoffs and, I said this before, if we didn't make the playoffs I didn't do my job.

en It's your goal starting out to make the playoffs. I didn't see not making the playoffs, no, I didn't, not at all. First, I didn't see the trade (with Boston) coming. I didn't see going into the development direction. But again, you've got to be ready for that and flexible for that as an organization being on the same page.

en I'm disappointed I didn't make it, but I'm changing my focus and just keep trying to win games and get this team into the playoffs. There's nothing I can do but go out, play hard and try to make things happen.

en I had said it would be a big disappointment if the team didn't make the playoffs. I'm not sure that we have enough guys that are hungry enough to want to be in the playoffs. The toughness to be able to get there sometimes doesn't show up. I take responsibility for that. That's my job to make them tougher or whatever it takes for them to be able to play.

en Since I've been in the NFL, I've never seen a team go 10-6 and not make the playoffs. I've seen teams that were 9-7 and 8-8 make the playoffs. It would be mind-boggling to be 10-6 and not make the playoffs.

en One of the most pleasant things that came out of Saturday's game was that the younger players really handled themselves with a lot of poise, didn't make a lot of mistakes, and when they had the opportunity to do some things did it, ... Can we build on that? Yeah, I think we can build on that. Hopefully we can use them more. Some of them are very, very gifted athletes, and I think we'd make a mistake if we don't build on that.

en Everyone is not jumping for joy with finally making the playoffs but it is a big accomplishment for us being that we didn't make it last year and nobody expected us to make it this year and here we are.
