en We're just trying to be consistent with the little things that we do and continue to try and do them well. Last week I was happy with the fact that we didn't jump offsides and make stupid mistakes.

en I'm very happy with the way we played and the way we executed. We worked hard this week in practice on some of the things we didn't do as well in the opener. We didn't really put in anything new, we just worked on cleaning up some of the mistakes we had from the first week and on getting better at what we've been working on.

en Their front four is very dominant. We're going to try to do just the basic things, try to get them to jump offsides and just try to mix things up on them.

en We got caught making some stupid, stupid mistakes. We don't usually make those kind of mistakes, and it cost us tonight.

en We played solid and consistent baseball all day long. We didn't make any glaring mistakes. That's our goal, to try to be as consistent as we can be, day in and day out.

en There were a lot of shortcomings last time we were here. Things didn't work out offensively. All week, we heard about the mistakes they were able to expose the first time. What we had to do was come in here and not talk about it, but eliminate the mistakes they caused us to make in November.

en The key is to get out (and score) early. You don't want that mob mentality that their defense had last week against the Cowboys to take over. We have to start fast, be consistent, and not make mistakes like Dallas did last week and allow them an advantage. It's a difficult challenge, but we're up for it.

en First-year players are going to see things at a different speed. They'll make mistakes. Hopefully, they will correct them. It may take two or three games. Last week we had a lot of upperclassmen make mistakes.

en A lot of it is just experience. I've had a year underneath my belt and played. Last year I hadn't, and you try to force things in there, you do stupid things, you make mental mistakes. Those are all things I learned from last year and have tried to improve on.

en I'm aggressive on bases and I will continue to be aggressive. When you're running the bases aggressively, sometimes you're going to make mistakes. Sometimes you're going to make great plays. Unfortunately in the last week, I've been [making] mistakes.

en [What to watch: Tommy Finn won't be in uniform for the defending Class 3A state champs. But neither will be Casey Martin or slew of other Trojan offensive guns. Last year, Finn led a 99-yard drive that ate up 7 1/2 minutes and threw a TD pass with 10.1 seconds left for the 18-13 win. Both programs lost the kitchen sink to graduation, but both teams do have a lot of talent, though unknown at this point. Andrean has eight returning starters on defense. But the 'Niners didn't run a ball past the line of scrimmage against Penn last week.] We have to do everything we can to not lose the game. If we line up right, don't jump offsides, get people in the right place, we can compete with just about everyone, ... They have more coming back in the trenches, but we have a lot of kids who can make big plays. Skill-wise I think we're as good as them.
