We feel comfortable and have more freedom once we have runners on with the plays we can run. If we get a couple runs it's a little more assuring knowing that he's up there competing and we have faith he's going to get the job done.

Our offense has got enough plays that within the running play a ball carrier has a chance to express his ability. I think Willie has gotten more comfortable with the plays we've run. He's had a chance to watch some pretty good backs in front of him be patient on certain plays, hit it on certain plays. I think he's earned this opportunity if indeed Jerome can't go. I'm not concerned; I'm rather excited.

Once we were able to get some runners on, we were able to do some hit and runs and a couple squeezes, something that we have to do with the offense that we have to produce runs.

I don't feel like we have enough depth. Lance has certainly made a lot of improvement. He is a veteran player that's starting to feel more comfortable in the system. He did make a couple of good plays in this game.

Everybody will know the kind of player he is, and everybody will know, especially with runners in scoring position, not to give him the freedom to drive in runs. As much pride as you have, you still want to win the game.

You give a team five runs in an inning — well, we didn't give them to (Mountain Crest). We gave them a couple of runs, some runners on base and they came up with big hits.

I'm just not comfortable with him not getting at-bats right now. If you don't play him, you're not going to see his power. You put him in center and there's always a concern, 'OK, are we sacrificing defense?' Well, I don't know. But I'm going to get him out there in center field a little bit. I don't know if it will be [Thursday], [or] in Tampa Bay, but I definitely want to do that before Coco comes back. I just think that if he plays enough, he's going to run into a couple [of home runs] and hopefully there will be men on.

He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. Jeremy came in there at the end and threw pretty well in my book. He got in a little jam at the end, but got out of it. We didn't have a couple good defensive plays behind him that led to getting a couple base runners on. All-in-all I was pleased with both of them.

I've got a lot more reps at practice and it's helped a lot just being in there and knowing what's going on. Tonight really let me get comfortable. I feel pretty comfortable about everything and it'll be OK.

What was impressive was that we fought back. Even a couple of times we had runners at first or second, we hit into a couple of double plays, we were still able to come back and do what we needed to do and that's promising.

I think the biggest factor in that game was that we had three errors that led directly to runs being scored. They were on routine plays and errors on routine plays happen, and it's just unfortunate and it was a situation where we needed to keep the score at three. If you put extra runners on, the possibility is there it is going to bite you and it bit hard tonight.

When I joined the Giants I wore No. 89 and had it for a couple of years. But I didn't like it. I didn't feel comfortable in it and I wanted to get out of it. You get a number that you feel comfortable with and it's like a good pair of shoes.

Henry Melton made some really good, physical runs today and has a couple of other days as well. It will be a hard decision to see how much he plays defense compared to offense because we liked the way he looked (on offense). He's in better shape. He's running with lower pads. He made a couple of really key runs today.

We came out and scored some runs and they made a couple mistakes -- they missed a couple plays. That usually ends up killing you, and we banged the ball around on them after that.
