Like every football team, NFL or arena, you want to start out with a win. It puts everyone in a good frame of mind. It kind of shows you where you're at early in the season. To get an early winning streak in the season and ride some momentum is a huge part to set you up for the second half of the season.

You can only do goals for shorter periods of time. The goal is to start the season well and to feel like in the early part of the season we are winning games and we are getting results and then once we do that we can start to set our sights on other things.

Eric?s been wrestling tough all season. Early in the season he lost a lot of those one-pointers and now he?s winning them. That?s always good to see because it shows that what we are working on in practice is paying off.

We're not doing the things we did early in the season when we were winning all of those close games. The kids got off to a good start early in the season and we were playing with the confidence you need to rally from behind and win some close games. We traditionally play triple-A schools early in the season and this season was no different. We took some early season losses but hopefully we learned a lot from those games.

I think, if anything, we learned you've got to recruit carefully. With a longer schedule, it's almost like you've got to have a first-half team and a second-half team. Those four inactive spots on your roster become pretty valuable. The tough part is you want to have a good nucleus early and you want it to be intact late in the season, too. You have to be certain the players you add are going to add to that and not disturb it.

It was a great game and a huge early-season win. We're off to a good start.

Beth has impressed early on this season. Against Kentucky, she got ahead in the count and hit her corners. She really looked good in her first SEC start of the season.
