He's a winner. In talking to guys who have been with the Dodgers, they would say they enjoyed having him as manager. He works hard at what he does, he talks to them, and you can see that their pitching and fundamentals always have been strong. Things happen. When you know your team is not doing good, most of the blame goes against your manager. I don't see nothing (bad) Jim Tracy did with the Dodgers. ... I don't see the reason why it happened.

He's one of those guys that everybody loves. You love having him around. He works hard and talks less.

I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

I know it's a hard job, and a lot rides on that job, but I've got a lot of help around here. There's so much pitching talent, like Mel and Kerrigan, the guys that are in here. They're all going to help you. They're not going to overload you and let you sink by yourself.

We're happy to keep someone of Tom's caliber in Philadelphia. Tom has done an excellent job and it was important for this organization to have him continue in this general manager role for the foreseeable future. He's a hard worker and an outstanding evaluator of talent.
