en This was a big win for us to remain one game in front (in the district). It's probably good that we're having games like this because it helps us out. Games which you win by run rule are probably easier but they really don't help you prepare for the playoffs.

en We started last Friday against Southeast with four district games in a row. We had to win them all to be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the district. The guys really hit the ball well (Tuesday night) and backed up our pitching.

en This event is set up to prepare the athletes for the area games that will take place Feb. 24-25 in Allen. Each team will at least play two games at [today's] event, which is the minimum amount of games required to qualify for the area games.

en After Friday night we want to be in the top half of the district. It's like the NFL. They have a preseason; We also have a preseason. Now the games that we play count. We certainly have to start out on the right foot when the games count.

en When I did get the call to start, it took about three games for me to build my innings up. Now, I can prepare myself to start, condition myself properly, space my throwing out, build up from the beginning this year and be ready to start. I think it's going to help me in the long run.

en We lost two extra inning games to North Sound Christian last year. We just missed out on going to district.

en You don't go and panic right now. Once you start panicking things don't go right. After (tonight) will be 41 more games. If we get a better record than we did this (half) and win 28, 29, games we're going to be 48 or 49 and something, that's the way you look at it. Even if we win 24, that'd be 48 games. If we win 26, that'll be 50 games. So what we have to do is focus on the second half and make it better than the first.

en I don't know what our missed games are, but we must lead the country in games missed due to injury.

en Going forward, (McGrady) is going to have missed 35 games and a few more by not being able to finish the games. Most of those games were home games. On top of that, he had a period in January and February, he was healthy enough. We're going to need him to be healthy and playing very, very well for us to make the improvement we want to make going forward.
