Getting to the second ordtak

Getting to the second round is a real accomplishment for this team, and I'm happy we made it this far. I think girls played real well, especially since Revere is the ranked fifth in the state of Ohio (in Division II).

They're physically stronger than us at this point. We were just outmanned up front. Our kids competed and played hard. We stayed in the game against a real good football team. They're ranked No. 5 in the state for a reason. They're a real good football team.

I'm not sure if it was the drive or just the fact that we had beaten them handily both times we played but I thought the girls came out real flat. I wasn't real happy with the way our starters played.

I'm just hoping to see more effort when we watch film. We played a real good team tonight. They showed why they're ranked in the state.

We didn't play real well, we played hard, but to beat a team ranked ninth in the state and one that has won seven in a row, we have to take care of things better.

I'm not real happy with the way we played. I don't think the girls are, either, because they weren't real excited at the end. I don't think we played as well as we thought we could have.

I was real proud of the way our team came back and played in the final round. We were 17 shots behind after Monday and it would have been easy for the guys to mail it in. But instead, they came back and played with a lot of focus and a lot of pride. I think our final round is a real positive as we head into a pretty important stretch of our season.

We played toe-to-toe with them. The girls played their hearts out and took the No. 2-ranked team in the state toe-to-toe. We could just as easily have won it.

This will be our largest and toughest meet. The tournament consistently has a ton of kids who place in the state. The top Division II and Division III teams will be there. It's a real good tournament. It's a real back-breaker. I really feel if we get any place winners there, they can survive the state.

We've been looking for a breakout night. We've been shooting in the mid-40s (percentage). We made our shots tonight, and we played real good defense. We're real happy with the win.

Penn State was a real surprise. They were pre-season ranked 100th in the country [by golfstat.com]. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. They must have gotten some real good freshmen.

Going into those final days, we were concerned. Even that first day [of the women's competition] we were in a tough spot because we only made up [11 of the 24 bouts] and knew they had 13 real tough bouts the next [and final] day. But our girls fenced amazing and Ohio State didn't come through and it came out in our favor.

I was real proud of the girls; they never gave up. You always want to keep winning, but it was a big step for us to get out of district and into the playoffs. I thought the girls played real hard.

I thought he played real good. The way he moves the puck is something. That pass he made to Alfredsson coming off the bench ... he just played a real solid game. He'll be a real important guy for us in the playoffs.

We've had a run where we've played a lot of ranked teams, but we haven't run into a team as physical as Highlands Ranch. We're happy we won the league, but you don't really want to go into the postseason with a loss. But maybe it will help because the girls won't want to feel that same hurt for the next six or seven games.
