I think Shane is the toughest back we have, I didn't realize how tough he was. You can see that by the yards he gets after he gets hit. But I also like that he has had some runs where he outran people. He is one of those backs who wouldn't time real good if he ran against the clock, but he can run as fast as he has to when someone is chasing him. I think Marcus showed he's going to be dangerous. That was a fast defense chasing him, and a couple of times he outran some fast guys.

With him in the bullpen, the stability was really, really good. Even the games Schill had a tough time, we didn't have to use [Mike] Timlin so often at a time when Foulke went down. We might have run into some problems, but we didn't. It was really good for us. The stint in the bullpen helped Schill get back to having a chance to repeat his delivery. It worked out well for everybody. At the time, he just wasn't ready to be a starter. We tried to time it to when Foulke came back. We had to get him seven starts. Just three wouldn't be fair. But we said all along we wanted to get him back in the rotation.

[P. J. Daniels] got hurt fairly early last year and is just not the same when he's banged up. When he's healthy he really runs the ball very well. The thing people don't realize about him is he's such a great pass protector that it sometimes get overlooked because he runs for 100 yards most weeks.

Running backs take a beating because the guys chasing them are bigger, stronger and faster than at any time in the history of the game. I'd love to have a guy you can hand the ball 25 times a game and he'd always get 100 yards, but that's not an easy thing these days.

I had nothing but daylight for the first three or four yards almost every time. I'm not that fast guy who is going to juke somebody, but once I'm hit, the good Lord willing, I can usually get a couple more yards.

I don't think it will be a problem for Corey to do it. He's still ticking pretty good. No question the system you run in is very important. How do you get your yards? It's the first time I've ever had one. Kids had some angles on him, he just outran them. ... You're going to see some big runs like that before he graduates.

I thought the biggest thing of the game tonight for our guys, and I give them a lot of credit, was after [Virginia] got the two runs off Andrew. Knowing how tough Doolittle is - he one of the toughest pitchers in this league - to bounce right back out there and get two runs, that to me was a big point in this game.

We did get the three runs (in the third) and come back, but this is a tough ballpark to nickel and dime and get runs that way. It boils down to offense and four runs here (in Albuquerque) normally isn't going to cut it and it didn't today.

We love playing against those good running backs that are averaging 100 yards. We try to be prepared for that and ready for that every week. Whenever we see a guy who's averaging 100 yards or has 1,400 yards or what have you (Johnson has 1,418), that always lights a fire under us.

(Thompson) has got a lot of good stuff and always pitches tough against us. We faced her three times last year and she always did well. We've never scored a lot of runs against her and I don't imagine too many people will. (She has) control and change of pace, and that's always difficult. You've got 40 feet to decide if it's going fast, slow, up, down ? it's just a tough sport.

It puts a lot of pressure on your D-backs (defensive backs). We need to tackle. They're going to complete some passes. We know that. We just need to not let 10 yards become 40 yards.

That's probably our toughest thing. We came out fast (vs. Beckley), a lot of dunks, real exciting. Sometimes I wish we wouldn't start out that well, because we start wanting to please the crowd and not play at our tempo.
