I asked the airline ordtak

en I asked the airline staff what I was going to do with all the animals as I didn't have any food for them. They were very unhelpful.

en Our animals in captivity don't fight for food. They don't have to travel long distances for food, water and shelter. Zoo animals have 24-hour veterinary care. They have a specially prepared diet weighed to the gram, and they have animal care staff checking them every day for injury.

en There was never an opportunity I asked for food and didn't receive it. People are so giving ... and they have really been a blessing in the past year when I've asked for food that we need.

en It has been well said that the food one consumes determines one's thoughts. By eating the flesh of various animals, the qualities of these animals are imbibed. How sinful is it to feed on animals, which are sustained by the same five elements as human beings! This leads to demonic tendencies, besides committing the sin of inflicting cruelty on animals.
  Sri Sathya Sai Baba

en Pat was a different person. She asked about the children in the hospital, the food, their medical care, education. I liked her very much. She was always what I expected a president's wife to be. She was really down to earth, good to everyone in the Embassy, all the staff.
  Eleanor Roosevelt

en We are always in negotiations with other airlines, whether we have an airline here or not. But we only want to deal with an airline that is productive for the city. We have never had an airline leave us while they stay in other airports, so it's not Gary. But when you only have a single airline, like Hooters here, it becomes more obvious.

en We have been playing Russian roulette with our food supply for years by allowing these downer animals into the food chain, ... This much-needed legislation will codify a temporary administrative ban on the processing of downer cattle and it will expand the ban on the processing of other downer livestock. Animals too sick or injured to walk are a higher risk for mad cow disease, E. coli and salmonella, and they suffer terribly when they're dragged to slaughter.

en Their compassion didn't surprise me, but I didn't realize one story could mean so much to them. They immediately asked 'Can we do something?' They wanted to send clothing, food, school supplies. They could hardly wait until I got administration approval. They were on me the next day.

en He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her. Consumers have responded pretty positively when asked their opinion of food modified to improve food quality and food safety. Just as long as the taste isn't altered negatively.

en It's important to realize that all six cases of 'mad cow disease' identified in North America have involved downed animals. These animals, which are sick, diseased, or injured livestock incapable of supporting their own body weight, are many times more likely to carry diseases like this into our food supply. It's critical that Congress do what it can to prevent this contamination, and that these animals be dealt with humanely. I'm proud to once again join my colleague, Rep. Ackerman, in sponsoring this measure.

en It was very surprising for everyone and also a big rallying point for our staff. We had staff who stayed through the storm and have been there stabilizing the animals and the collection and getting them ready to move out.

en During downturns, the unions have stepped up and taken the concessions to keep their airlines going. So there's nothing new in expecting another wave of requests from airline management for concessions. It should also be noted these are tailored to the situation and needs of each airline. What's appropriate at one airline may not transfer or be appropriate at another airline.

en It's not a health food. It's not something anybody needs to eat. These animals are pulled out of the environment, transported, denied sustenance, kept frustrated with their claws locked, and boiled alive. en From the oyster to the eagle, from the swine to the tiger, all animals are to be found in men and each of them exists in some man, sometimes several at the time. Animals are nothing but the portrayal of our virtues and vices made manifest to our eyes, the visible reflections of our souls. God displays them to us to give us food for thought.
  Victor Hugo

en The work being done by the dedicated staff and volunteers of Second Harvest in New Orleans is a tremendous demonstration of the potential partnership that can exist between a well-organized grassroots organization and the federal government.
