It's very difficult to try to make a stock market forecast based on an interest rate outlook because things change. We don't think you gain a whole lot of value by trying to make those type of predictions. Take a step back, get rid of a lot of noise, and focus on good businesses, good industries and not pay too much, you sleep a whole lot better and you've got a much greater probability of success.

The real short-term outlook for us is pretty positive given that we don't see a Fed rate hike in August and that due to political noise, if you will, we are not going to see a rate hike in October. But on the earnings front it is a different issue. Looking into 2000, our longer-term forecast, we've had two great years of earnings growth. We think it is going to be pretty difficult to show up with another year of 30-to-40 percent earnings growth. So, consequently, our message has been a lot more selective about the securities that we want investors to focus on.

The minutes didn't change the outlook for the interest rate moves priced into the market. The Fed is expected to raise the funds rate at least two more times unless economic data is released that will change this assumption.

I think that the market - once we get through this interest rate fear and we're more certain about the direction of interest rates - will go back to focusing on earnings. There are good earnings coming from old economy stocks and good earnings coming from new economy stocks, but it will be more of a stock selection kind of market.

They've got the Player of the Year in their conference, Heath, and a good big man down low in Slaughter. We feel we have a good draw. Things are set up good for us. I think we can go out there and make some noise. A lot of noise.

I think so. A lot of things have happened since the past. I came back in 2003 with Elliott and we had a lot of success. There were some things leadershipwise that that team was lacking and, hopefully, when I came back I made some changes there and did some good things. We won some races and had a lot of success. The good news is, for those of us who need to make changes, there are many simple ways to get started.

In a competitive global market, we must focus on our core competencies. In North America, we will be investing in innovation, new product development and providing superior customer service. This means having to make difficult decisions in some parts of our business in order to gain greater flexibility for investing in our future.

People are worried the Bank of Japan will change its interest rate policy, but I don't think it is a negative for the stock market because the economy is moving out of deflation and that is positive for the stock and asset markets.
