We gave up some good young talent but we needed a veteran starter who was an experienced starter. Who was a top-of-the-rotation guy. Who was used to pitching in big games like this.

en Going in last year, everyone was excited about the starters -- on paper. But I had my concerns for certain reasons. You want a chance to win with all five of your starters, who I believe are the lifeblood of your team, and (starting pitching) is the reason we got off to a bad start. I honestly feel a lot better about the rotation. In fact, it's been awhile since we felt this good about the rotation. I'm pumped up about it.

en When I think about Rick, I think about someone whose ultimate concern was about fairness. Rick was a person who went through life wearing a white hat. People who did bad things to others was a great concern to Rick,

en He stands a real good chance of pitching in our rotation.

en But I'm proud that we were able to send Rick Honeycutt and Mariano Duncan up there, because they both did good jobs. The other guys on the Minor League staff see that you can get to the big leagues. These two guys sure are deserving of it.

en This honor is a tribute to the hard work Brad has put into his talent. He has incorporated the instruction that pitching coach Brian Unger presented to him which has taken his pitching to another level. He has truly developed into a legitimate professional prospect. I believe that he is in line to have a tremendous 2006 for the Hawks.

en Today's game was a great one and I dedicate it to Chicago and the fans of Chicago who have waited for so long. I know they deserve this because they stood by me when I was pitching bad and now that I'm pitching great.

en Rick was a great teammate. Rick is doing well. Who knows, maybe he will need an assistant coach one day.
