Coach Mason has been giving a great effort in three years. She has had to learn her job the hard way. I know the losing is frustrating for her. She cares immensely about the kids.

It's hard for anybody to get real positive when the team is losing. I've been pleased with how the kids practice. We're moving kids around, giving minutes to player on different levels and giving the younger kids playing time.

Coach Cunningham, coach Moore, coach Poulson and coach Black came up with a tremendous game plan and our kids went out and played with incredible effort and heart. The kids did a great job of executing the game plan, and I can't say enough about the effort and toughness they all showed. This is the kind of defense that championship teams are built on.

I am definitely proud of the effort these kids are giving. They played hard for four quarters. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. The effort has been there all season and when you consider how very frustrated they have been through the adversity in wins and losses, you have to be impressed. I can't say enough about their effort.

Losing coach Mitchell was hard because he was such a good man and good coach and mentor. But coach Hill hasn't lost a beat. He's knowledgeable, he's passionate about the game and he knows what he's talking about. He wants us to be better. We didn't lose anything there. As far as the scheme, it's taken some getting used to ? that happens any time ? but we're learning it quickly. I think it will be a formidable defense when we learn it.

I'm so delighted that Rick has agreed to remain our men's basketball coach for an additional three years. When he first became our coach, I felt that if he could come here and reconstruct our program in six years, it would be a major coup for this institution. Our entire university and community will benefit immensely from his pushing that initial commitment to nine years.

I was pleased with our effort. We could mail it in at anytime. They made runs at us and our kids kept playing hard, and I was very appreciative of that. I can't ask too much more of our players. They are giving me the best effort they have.

I felt like it was a great team effort. I just thought that the energy was great, that the effort was great. I am just happy for my kids today, and I'm just really proud of their effort and the outcome. It is just a reward for their hard work today.

He's been hard on me all year. I know [it's] because he cares about me. . . . I was happy for him . . . 'cause, you know, I don't think he really gets enough credit of how great of a coach he is.

Their effort - they scramble and work as hard as they can until the end of the game. And I coach them to the end in that situation - I don't care what the score is. I want to see them get better and see those young kids have some success down the line here in the next couple years and it's going to start against good teams like that.

I told the kids we're going to keep it simple and keep it intense. You hope you don't have to coach effort and with these girls I don't. Tonight we got great effort.

We are playing better as a team right now, and we are giving more effort all the way through. We've always had the effort in practices, but at times, we haven't played as hard as we could in games. Right now, the kids are playing awfully hard in the games.

He had to adjust to how I coach as a head coach. He went through some ups and downs. He had to learn how to make the extra pass. That was hard because in his first two years he could take any shot he wanted -- and we needed him to do that.

The kids need to be out there and learn about it, ... Getting out there and seeing it is critical. You learn about something like the Asian oyster, who cares? You can look at it in a book or you can do it, and then it becomes powerful.
