Saying that stocks are ordtak

en Saying that stocks are cheap relative to an asset class that itself is really expensive -- that's a fragile comfort. To me the risk profile of the market in some ways is even higher than back in 1999. Back then people were buying because there was tremendous enthusiasm for stocks. Now they're buying them because they're turned off by the alternatives.

en This is the greatest stock-buying mania of all-time, people are buying stocks, they're buying blue chips, with no regard to value. In this respect, it's similar to 1929. People believe that as long as you're buying, everything's fine. This is a dangerous market, you should make no mistake about that.

en I never hoped that the market will go down. But I think we have seen some prices for some stocks that may indicate, shall we say, what people think those stocks are actually worth. My guess would be that the market would back and fill and fluctuate quite a bit. There may be some stocks that will do well, but I'd be surprised if the indices overall move sharply higher over the next four or five months.

en That having been said, stocks are the cheapest asset class out there relative to real estate and bonds. You may see more people moving their money to cash, but for people who want to invest, that (stocks) is where it's going to go.

en A number of the 'old-economy' stocks, and I've cited the financials in recent weeks as an example, are no longer going down in price. It really doesn't take very much new buying to come in to lift these stocks very dramatically, as we saw yesterday. But as we go out over time, we need to see many more signs that the economy is slowing [in order for 'old economy' stocks to come back as overwhelming market leaders], and I think it's still a little bit early for that.

en We are getting a lot of rotational buying on blue-chip stocks right now. People are buying stocks when they are hurt or lagging.

en Bill Miller is someone who very much has embraced the new economy. But he's buying some old economy stocks because he thinks they look so cheap relative to the fundamentals.

en It is as easy as selling the losers and buying the winners. It's a continuation as investors are buying the successful stocks and ignoring the value stocks.

en I think it's foreign investors who are aggressively buying banking stocks now ... in order to factor in Japan's economic recovery they are buying the most liquid Japanese stocks -- banks.

en We're seeing massive buying in bank stocks on the back of economic optimism. What we need to see is this sort of targeted buying of lenders spreading to other industries. With that we will have further sustainable gains.

en We're getting there now. People are putting money in bonds increasingly and not buying back technology stocks. This investor sentiment is getting nice and bad, and that's what we need to turn the market around.

en Those [stock-market] returns will be much better than the alternatives. You name it, gold, bonds, cash -- stocks are still likely to be the best performing asset class for the next five years.

en Positive economic news from the U.S. will send stocks higher at home. Technology stocks may become buying target.

en The third quarter corporate results are very good this time, which so far found very little reflection in stock prices. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. Stocks are cheap and people are buying in a calmer market to fill year-end portfolios.

en They are just taking all the stocks higher that they need, they are buying the top 40 (basket of stocks).
