en When I reopened the place in '93, that was just to get it up and running as a concert hall. Over the years, the building has taken a lot of wear and tear. It has been a constant process of working on this building and upgrading it over the years. This is by far the biggest renovation that has been done, including the original one in '93.

en This building was built 32 years ago, and it's a landmark here in Orange. Wells Fargo has been at this location for six years now, and has carried on the tradition of the original First National Bank, which was founded in 1889.

en The historical society was a bit upset that they were demolishing the original building but they (the home owners) had been making ongoing renovations and they just weren't going to be able to bring that building up to code. For obvious safety reasons, nursing homes can't be wooden structures anymore; they must be built with steel construction. Because of that, as well as many other reasons, the two eventually made an agreement that they would design the new building to have many similar features of the original mansion and then the original would be destroyed. In a crisis, you can turn to your friend in another ethnic or religious community and say, 'I need your help.' Bill has been just a master at this kind of community building.
