To be on a ordtak

en To be on a team that does not win that much, you have to take away things from it and learn from the mistakes we make as a team and individuals, ... Sometimes people say it is a character building experience, and I really think it is.

en We're building character. We had two of our men go to a third set tie-breaker and I was proud of the way they played. We are a young team making young mistakes, but we're building on each match and hoping to learn from our mistakes.

en We worked hard on trying to address out mistakes. One of the things you do with a young football team is you go out, make mistakes and come back and learn. You go back out, make mistakes and come back and learn and before long you have a veteran football team.

en We did some good things as a team, but we had the goal to play for the Lombardi Trophy and unfortunately that won't happen. This is not how you want to end your year. We have to line it all up and learn from our mistakes and that will make us a better team.

en We will look at all phases and we will make sure we learn from the experience and we take the good from it and try to get better as a football team. With the character of players I have here, I know it will take place.

en I am just really proud of the way we competed and didn't back down from this challenge. Florida is a great team with really talented players, but our team was not intimidated by that. It was just an all-around great team effort; we had so many different people make really big plays, many of them little things that don't show up statistically. But in such a close match, all of those little things are important. It just illustrated the tremendous fight and character of this team.

en We showed a lot of character coming back tonight. This team really wants to win and if we can put away a few mistakes it's going to make things a lot easier.

en Until we all learn to play with each other, we just have to get better each night and the offense will come. This was a big character builder for the team. I know it's early in the season, but we've got to start somewhere with this group of guys, and when we can win games like that against a good team like Tampa Bay, it's a big building block for us.

en We are a young team. We start two freshmen and Brooke (Smith) and I are only in our second year of playing really. We're used to playing behind seniors. We do over think things at time and make mistakes that people with more experience wouldn't make.

en I still believe that Claudio's experience, his ability to organize the defense, what he brings on the inside of the team in terms of mentality and team building, I just think he's a tremendous asset. He has a tremendous understanding of how to organize people around him, of how to communicate, of how to make (people) better and I think that will go a long way for our team. en Go and make your mistakes in the first team. You'll learn more in a month in the first team than you will in two years in the reserves.

en It's pretty much from experience. You learn from experience. And you make mistakes ... of course you make mistakes, you know. But you learn from them, and you go forward, and you won't make the same mistakes twice, hopefully, you know.

en We're a really young team. I graduated eight starting seniors from last year. We're rebuilding. Really, the guys are having to learn as we go along. Very few of them have game experience, so we're learning. So we're going to make some mistakes but we're learning from those too.

en And then obviously our team, we had better people, high-character guys, good leadership. It's just one of those things. In '03, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. And then last year, everything that could have gone right went right. We were not a 4-12 team in '03, even though our record showed that. We were better than that. Just due to circumstances, that's the way we finished. We all got stronger through that experience. I don't think we could have accomplished what we did last year if we hadn't gone through that in '03.

en I told those guys we won for two reasons. Character No. 1. We really showed character. We overcame adversity. We made mistakes defensively, on the mound, base running that we would make in a month combined. But because this team's got character, we continued to battle back. And the second reason was our offense. They kept us in the game, they kept coming back.
