Many and most of the nontraditional high schools do have integrity and do provide a quality education. But it is clear that some do not. The committee recognizes that these are real problems. Personally, I think everyone on the Lakeshore Committee breathed a sigh of relief once this project was completed. Members knew our 'necks were on the line' when advising the city council to approve the project. And it barely passed the city council by one vote.

While transportation is important, health care is clearly the No. 1 priority for Chamber members statewide.

There is an awards committee that makes the decision on winners, and we look at the community in general for winners, not just members of the Chamber of Commerce.

We're still trying to determine what the exact risk might be. We're looking at a number of different things ? hygiene practices, environment, if there was any product contamination, if there is something about certain solutions that makes the fungus grow. If people are concerned, as always, we suggest they talk with their eye care professional.
