en [Leo] left a wonderful legacy. He was always involved in every aspect of community. He was wonderfully community-oriented and he raised a family that way. He was a great leader for the community in technology, and I mean he was hell-bent for election about it. He was an excellent administrator, very organized. He saw to it that things got done and a lot of the time, he did it himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he was wonderful to work with. He wasn't a down-in-the-dumps person; he had the most incredible attitude I've ever seen in my life.

en The response from the community has been phenomenal. We raised more than $40,000 that can be put into the foundation for scholarships, and that's what it's all about -- the community helping the community.

en Being part of a foundation that recognizes students and helps them go to college to achieve a higher education is a wonderful thing. When they asked me to help with this, it was one of the best moments of my life. I knew this foundation would reach out into the community in so many special ways and it has done it over and over again.

en A lot of people take emergency care for granted. At a time when emergency- department visits are going through the roof, the number of emergency departments has declined because hospitals have found it's more economically attractive to close the emergency department than to keep it open and lose money.

en With this generous grant, the Community Foundation of Broward has shown its commitment to safeguarding equality for all people. The ACLU sincerely thanks the Foundation for helping the ACLU advance its work on behalf of the gay and lesbian community.

en My wife and I felt that in 10 years there had never been a Foundation play that paid tribute to the Community Foundation. We said, 'Let's thank the Foundation.' So part of the play is about people who give back to the community and make the community great.

The money raised will allow us to expand the program so more special needs kids can take part.

en If they raised that much money and raised it that soon, it'll top a million. It is shaping up with the same themes as the Rural Heritage Initiative, just more money because the agriculture community is going to be there in spades.

en The Emergency Operations Center at the police department is simply not big enough to be used for a major emergency, so we're spending a bit of homeland security money for special lighting, a generator and communications equipment to set up an EOC in the auditorium,

en We have gotten wonderful support from the community. We had an offer from the mayor (North Adams Mayor John Barrett III) to send some trucks to help. Many community members called up and offered their time to help us. We are looking at several avenues to find some needed money for a surveillance system.

en It was a wonderful, vibrant place, and its loss was a big blow to the community. It was very much an anchor in the community. We see our school as a real symbol of its rebirth.
