When we were there at the beginning of the year, they handed it to us pretty good. We have to make sure we come out, play well and play smart. We have to be very strong in our own end. Defensive zone coverage is going to be key.

They do what they need to do. They can play their ?Cover 2? and they play it well. They play some zone and they can pressure. They probably don?t pressure as much as some teams, but they can definitely bring it. It?s a good defensive football team. They do everything pretty well.

We had trouble scoring last year but our offense has improved a lot. The team is working harder and we played well together tonight. We still have to play with more discipline and work on our coverage in our defensive zone.

We've played good zone all year. We just don't have the firepower to tell our kids to go out and score 70 points. That's not our deal. We're going to play ball-control. We're going to control tempo and get good, high-percentage shots. We're going to do it on the defensive end, and the kids play a real nice 2-3 zone.

He was the best defensive player when they won their two Stanley Cups. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. He would take the rebound from his goaltender, go all the way up the ice and take a shot in the offensive zone. And he'd come back another 200 feet, make the defensive play again. Great talents can play defense, and he was terrific in that series.

It's a typical 2-3. Their guards take a lot of chances. They go for steals a lot, so we've got to play smart. It's going to come down to making shots, because we know they're going to try and take away Roy. When you play Syracuse, you know you have to have a good shooting night. A lot of teams have been successful against their zone this year, and we just have to be one of those teams.

Our safety play has been outstanding. We haven't gotten too fancy, we have been able to play a good bit of zone coverage, allowing our front seven to hold up against the run.

It's a lot of trust in each other and knowing that your guy next to you is going to be there to help contain or make the play. Everybody has a role. It's a matter of maintaining your zone. You've just got to be smart and know when you can do that kind of stuff, be a kamikaze and know when they're trying to set you up and (not) run yourself out of a play.

You win games with strong offensive line play, but you win championships with strong play on the defensive line. The play of the freshmen defensive linemen will be important for us. They made great improvement over the course of the season and they will have to keep improving.

We need to take our defensive zone coverage to heart, once again. But once we get out of our defensive zone, our breakouts and ability to score will not be a problem.

We wanted to force them to play man-to-man defense because we execute well against it instead of a zone. The zone hurt us the first time around. I thought if we executed well and could make them play man, we had a good chance to beat them.

When we first watched him in college, we knew he was an athletic guy who could make plays. We liked his ability to play in space. We always felt that that he was getting better and better, so we liked him from the beginning. (He's) become a pretty great player for us, a good sub guy that really can play all three (linebacker) positions.

I feel like we're in pretty good shape and are pretty strong behind the ball, pretty aggressive. Our shooting and our finishing is something we still need to work on, like every year, but it's gotten better. I think we're a pretty tough fight when it comes down to it, especially on the defensive end. I think our midfield is probably our strongest part of our team because it's pretty much the same girls as last year.

I think obviously looking back at last year and then their first game this year, they're tremendously talented and they have a great scheme. They have a lot of speed at the linebacker position, they have two guys up front who are really good at stopping the run and two guys on the edges who are good at rushing the passer. They do some zone blitzing, they play man-to-man coverage, they do all-out blitzing. They mix it up well.
