It's been a little ordtak

en It's been a little bit tough this year ... and we're using some different [defensive] looks. Overall, I feel like I'm playing the same way. I just haven't made too many [big] plays.

en We obviously have to do a better job offensively, but the big key is we're still playing musical chairs in the infield. We have to come up with some kind of a defensive infield. That's been our Achilles' heel. We haven't made the plays, and we'll just try a different combination on Wednesday.

en This was a potent offense, but our defense made some nice plays and kept hitting hard. I was really happy to see that we kept playing them tough in the second half. Stagg has been known in the past for tough defenses, and I think it will be the same this year.

en It's been a tough season for everyone. We haven't made the playoffs in the last five years, and we haven't had a winning record since 2002. It's a cumulative effect. Certainly, the situation we had this year made it tough for Jim, the coaches and players, and everyone in the entire organization.

en In my 13 years here we haven't had a season like this one. It's been tough. We just haven't made any plays. It's not play-calling. It's not just one position.

en Those last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things we accomplished are the things you have to do. I think we made the plays. Offensively we got the ball where we wanted to get it. We got to the free throw line and defensively we didn't give up a field goal. That is a far cry from last Monday (against Rutgers). That is the nature of the game. You get it right and you feel great. You get it wrong you feel lousy.

en We had guys that haven't made plays all year make plays for us.

en I'm just more comfortable at short. I've been playing there all my life. It's just more normal or more natural for me to play at short. Playing third was fine for that one year. I think it just made a better infielder. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. It's been a lot of fun so far this year because everything's clicking and it seems to be a great defensive year for us.

en They were putting the ball in play all day, and we made some really great defensive plays. (The no-hitters) don't really matter, as long as we got the 'W' and we're playing well.

en I can't say enough about what Amy has done for the team. She has brought a lot of new defensive concepts to the team. Last year was tough because we got away from our team defense concept. We're on the brink of getting back to where we were two years ago, in terms of playing as a defensive unit.

en They just made the plays, we got to tip our hats to them. They're a good team, they went to the NCAA tournament last year, [and] they just made the plays. There is not one particular play [Ohio made], they made plays all around.

en They are an outstanding defensive team and they made three plays when we had scoring opportunities that thwarted any type of momentum we had. We hit the ball and they made great plays. That was probably the difference.

en We made them take tough shots. That's been our defensive philosophy since I have been here. We got out of that on Friday and tried to press, playing crazy and that is not our style.

en Every year, they're going to have a pretty potent lineup. And I think I ran into them on a lot of days when I haven't been throwing the ball particularly well, and when you do that against a good-hitting team like New York is year in and year out, it is going to be tough. Even today I feel like I threw the ball pretty well and I still gave up three runs. I mean it's just a tough club to really go out there and control.

en I can't wait to start playing. They welcomed me back with open arms. They embraced me and made me feel like it was last year again. They made me feel like I was part of the team.
