en The first inning was kind of weird because I hadn't faced a batter since September, not even in batting practice. My slider wasn't very good.

en I was [ticked] off about my slider. I gave up a majority of my hits on the slider. I wish my spot in the [batting] order didn't come up [in the seventh] inning. ... I was frustrated because that inning was going to cost me the game.

en I feel pretty good overall. When I'm out there throwing batting practice, it's just what it is, batting practice. To work on my pitches and trying to get something out of it a little bit as far as some intensity.

en I think the batter was too good for Ishii. It was the eighth inning and the batter came up with a big home run. If I knew he was going to do that, I wouldn't have (put Ishii into the game).

en We'd get two strikes, but then we couldn't bury that pitch. A flat slider is like a batting practice fastball. There were a lot of balls in the middle of the [strike] zone.

en We hadn't been that good. I hadn't been real comfortable in the car and we didn't leave ourselves enough time to switch to qualifying trim and just was kind of disorganized and didn't get a good fast lap in (during practice).

en I don't think it was anything structural. He's just on schedule. He'll pitch whenever his day comes up. It's just a freak thing. He threw the ball real well. I was a little suspicious in the fifth inning because he dropped down on his slider, which hadn't been the case earlier in the game.

en I wasn't able to control the damage. One inning won the game for them. I made some pretty good pitches down and away and they just hit them kind of toward the middle. The bunt kind of threw me off and next thing I knew it was second and third. I just fell behind and made a bad pitch to Teixeira. I just wasn't good.

en I'd say he's well on his way to coming back in September and helping us. It all depends on how he feels. I think he can probably step in there right now and hit. That's how it is for Major Leaguers. He seems to be far ahead of where he was before he had his surgery, but I'm only basing that on batting practice.

en I'm definitely pleased with the performance the kids have put out thus far and am excited to clinch so early. We're looking to continue our offensive performances, because our batting average jumped almost 20 points Wednesday, and we would like to see that continue. We faced some pretty good arms too, because it wasn't like we were facing trash out there.

en We hadn't scored a lot of runs up to this point. We hit the ball hard in the first inning. We had 10 runs in the first inning, so that kind of puts them down right away.
