en I inherited the lead about the middle of the first turn, and he was running real easy. Then on the backside I don't know if he lost interest, but I really thought I was out of horse. About the half-mile pole I had to pull the stick out and go to work on him, and he responded.

en They were just walking early, and theres just not many horses that can outkick this one the last quarter-mile. We really picked it up from the half-mile pole in. Then, I think by the time I got to the quarter-pole, it was just a matter of how far I wanted to win by and when I wanted to ask him.

en Panoramic started to get a breather (on the lead) going to the half-mile pole. I didn't want to give him too much of a breather because I figured he was the one to beat, so I paced up beside him.

en I've never had a horse in the Kentucky Derby. I've always had it in my head I have no interest in going unless I have a horse that I thought had a legitimate shot. And I think this is a mile-and-a-quarter horse.

en I think he's going to be better this year; he's more mature. In the past, he was a young horse and a little aggressive, but now he's matured. I had him relaxed all the way around and when I hit the three-eighths pole I had planned on making my move then. The best thing about him is when he goes long, he has that nice, good cruising speed.

en The horse is waking up at just the right time. When he got to the quarter pole, I thought, 'Son of a gun, I'm going to win the Blue Grass.
