We got off to ordtak

We got off to a nice start. I thought we did a much better job on defense against them this time.

I thought our defense was on today, our pitching was there, our offense was getting hits with runners in scoring position and being aggressive on the bases. Scoring in the first inning also was huge for us. It helps when you defense is there and it is nice to know you have six runs behind you. It was a nice start to the weekend.

I thought our defense triggered our offense. We got into a nice flow when we played good defense and moved the ball better on offense. It was a good start to the tournament for us.

We were preparing all summer long for this team. I thought we got off to a good start in the first half. We didn't do much in the third quarter, but the defense made some nice plays. We'll take the win.

It's nice to start the season with two wins and it was very pleasing to come from behind and win. I was pleased with our defense and thought our pitchers were competitive. Our hitters were anxious early on, but started to settle down in the fifth inning of the second game.

Our defense really hung in there. They have a nice group of backs. They do a nice job of play-calling and mixing it up. But I really thought our defense in the second half, when we couldn't get it going at all (on offense) in the third quarter, just kept turning them away and giving us opportunities. And we finally hit a big play to take the lead. And then from there we played a little bit better offensively.

The first team to start playing defense was going to win the ball game. I thought both teams did a bad job of playing defense. We had to start making some stops.

I thought our defense overall wasn't where it needed to be. We needed a good start tonight and we just didn't get that. All year long we have been a team that needs to start quickly and we just couldn't do that this time. Some of that is our fault and some of that is Mt. Pleasant doing a good job against us. I thought we were quicker to the basketball. I thought our defense really played great. What I like is that our guys come at you hard on defense, but with the intelligence of a group like we haven't had in a long time.

Well, it's not the way you want to start out at home. I thought our defense kept us in the game in the first half, and I thought in the second half, (the defense was) very, very good, except for the last run.

It always helps to start the way I did. After the first four holes I thought I had a chance to shoot a low one. What was nice was that I made about four nice par saves and it makes a big difference when you're not taking bogeys and giving back those birdies.

I thought we did a nice job on the boards, and I thought our defense was solid. We have held our last five teams under 35 percent shooting and then when you rebound the basketball like we did, it helps you to be successful.

I don't feel like I'm laboring, ... I'm just concentrating on that one pitch and letting things happen. I'm trying to use the defense. I haven't really thought about (start to start). I'm just focusing on the now.

I thought Game 1, both teams were neck-and-neck, and then they got a nice run, and from that point on, they had us out of our system. We had a tough time stopping them. They did a nice job siding out. We tried to put some pressure on them with our serving. I thought they passed the ball really well tonight. When we had balls we could block or plays we could make, we didn't turn them.

When I first saw my tee time I didn't know what to expect. It was a very late start, but we had very nice conditions and sometimes it works out. It was a nice day to play and I played well and I'm very happy to be here.
