en We thank the greater Detroit area and Ford Motor Company for their many years of support and commitment to the Senior Players Championship. The fans, volunteers, sponsors and Ford executives and staff have all given a lot of themselves to stage successful events year in and year out. We look forward to having our best championship ever in 2006 and then a very exciting future at Baltimore Country Club beginning next year.

en I think Kelly had a learning year and an adjustment year, not having Andre Barrett. His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness. It was an adjustment for the whole team, but I think Kelly has grown and learned from his experiences here.

en Kelly's done well. It's going to have to be an organizational decision that we'll have to talk about after the season. Kelly has certainly done enough to deserve a look to come back. It depends on what kind of roster space we have at the end of the year.

en The four runs made it easy for Kelly the rest of the way. Kelly had her good stuff today. She struck out 11 earlier this year, but I believe this was her best performance overall.

en What you're finding in the automotive business is the products you design today affect your profitability three to four years down the road. What we are seeing today is some pretty good changes at General Motors, but nothing like that at Ford, and I think Ford is really going to be in dire straits in five to 10 years from now.

en Ford hadn't been up there for a number of years. This was a big chance for Ford and a lot of people saw it that way. So, we grabbed it with both hands.

This next chapter in Ford's history will be remembered for our renewed commitment to innovation and as the time we moved boldly to prepare Ford's North American business to face global competition.

en You have to love swimming to put up with all the extra work that goes into getting to the level Kelly's at. You have to swim almost year-round to be at that level and Kelly does that.

en Our depth in the secondary, particularly with our nickel back and dime back coming in, was not good last year, ... I'm glad we have Kelly Herndon. One thing about Kelly, he'll battle you. He'll physically play the game with you, and that's what you need, what you want.

en We owe it to our customers and our dealers ... to be competitive in the marketplace, ... [Ford CEO] Bill Ford said earlier this year we won't be left at the gate.

en Despite four years of our best efforts negotiating with Ford to save and perhaps expand the Hapeville plant, market forces beyond the control of government have caused it to succumb. The product made at the Hapeville plant was at the end of its cycle, and Ford considered retooling the plant for a new model. Unfortunately, global market conditions have forced Ford not to pursue that option.

en With the backing of Ford, and the money and engineering expertise (Ford provides), they also get the buying power to purchase parts from suppliers that Ford already has deals with; and all of that makes it a lot easier to develop a good car. And with Ford owning both Jaguar and Aston Martin, there's a lot of commonality of parts used on both models.
