A lot of people look at the last preseason game as if it's not important. Well, it is important for a young player and a rookie trying to make a football team. Most teams have to cut down 18 or 15 players and bring eight of them back. So, I think it will be a very competitive game for the most part and I look forward to seeing these young guys play.

This game will bring a lot of recognition to college hockey. Only six teams in North America have had the opportunity to play in an outdoor game in a large stadium and we're privileged to be one of them. Playing against Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the nation, in February, will be an important game for our team. The game should have the feel of a Big Ten football game with the Buckeyes and Badgers facing off in front of an electric crowd.

This is what he does best, play football. I thought it was important for the young guys to see him here, see him taking charge in the huddle. It's very valuable for him to show the young guys how important it is to be here, to be working.

This was a very physical and competitive tournament. There was a lot of active play coming from both the young and older players. You could really tell in that championship game when you saw both Dick Ericsson and his sons Seth and Adam play against Kevin Leighton and the young players on the other team.

It'll be a treat to bring all of our Hawaiian players home for a game. It's an important recruiting area for us, so it's great to go and play a game there and let everyone in Hawaii see our football team in person.

We’re hoping to try and arrange a game for Chris Lumsdon just to try and get him some match practice. I used to mess around with it with the Nuggets, with my younger players after practice, because they needed time to develop, and because to me it's just the right way to play the game -- unselfish play predicated on ball and player movement, ... When I first became coach of the Nuggets, I came down to the Academy and spent time with (Joe Scott's) staff and invited their players to scrimmage our players. I knew the Air Force players would make our guys chase them defensively. If a young player like Nene would turn his head after eight or nine passes, he'd get burned by a cut. It really helped us.

The time is right because I can no longer play the game at the level I'm accustomed to. I think the best decision is to retire as a player and turn the game over to the younger guys who are the future of this team and this league. It's a young man's game now.
