en Hoffmann has to have a full rich voice with good flexibility. And what is difficult about the role is that stamina is required. Often tenors can not sustain that hard full range of singing, ... but Stephen (Mark Brown) is excellent. We have a very even cast here. There are no weak singers.

en Ruth and I knew we would come back to live here some day, ... When my eyes got too bad for me to drive in 1988, and my not being able to see made it harder to perform on a regular basis, we decided it was time to come home. I pulled in my horns and we moved up here because of my eye condition. I didn't exactly retire; I'm still a member of the Opry and still do an occasional concert now and then. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness.

And even though Cole Porter was from Peru, his music reflects more of a European style, so we're going to focus on that and how different they are.

en Each entertainer for the show provides his or her own talent. There are no scripts and no required costumes. Everyone wears whatever they feel is appropriate. We're able to minimize rehearsals because everyone rehearses on their own. We just meet during the last week to put the show together.

en We'll have two great performances by Montgomery Gentry and Phil Vassar, and joining us for the fun will be a bunch of my buddies from NASCAR. We're making sure that anyone who comes to the concert is going to have a good time.

en The man had cancer. He had to have surgery. His voice didn't recover in time. He's now fully recovered and he's willing and able to perform the concert. They won't let him.

en We are very pleased with tonight's performance. Although vault and bars weren't the best we've done this season, I was very happy with the way they rebounded on beam and floor. I think the girls may have been looking ahead to next week's rematch with Alabama and not really concentrating on the performances needed to defeat Illinois-Chicago.
