en What was missing was a Southern Conference championship. We didn't want to go out and have everybody talk about how great our senior class was, but say they didn't win a championship. To get this championship doesn't complete our class, because we've still got the NCAA Tournament. But it gives us legitimacy.

en Our recruiting class this year is takings us in the right direction. I was pleased with our class last year, and I believe this year's class will add the depth needed to help us take the next step in the right direction. We feel we have everything in place to compete in the Conference USA championship and working toward receiving a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

en You don't lose a championship and forget about it. Right now, we're 0-1. That's the way I look at it. We had a chance to win the regular season championship and we didn't do it. But there's three seasons. Now we start phase 2 and see what happens. And then after these three days, we start phase 3 [the NCAA Tournament]. Could we go 2-1? Yeah, but that doesn't wash out the 1. en Year in and year out our ultimate goal is to get to the NCAA Tournament. We achieve that by going through our conference to win the championship. Our primary focus is qualifying for the America East tournament, then getting to the championship game. It's simplistic but it's what we look for.

en This group of seniors, we've been fielding questions all week about how are we emotionally going to get up for the game when it doesn't really mean anything. We found that to be a slap in the face. We didn't want to be a senior class that contributed to a national championship and lost our last two games.

en I'm proud of our guys, that our senior class can be called champions. Over a 16-game schedule in this conference, to win a championship is a great accomplishment. I think we're playing our best basketball right now.

en I made a conscious decision before the tournament began that I would not say to our team the only one to the NCAA tournament is through the conference championship. Our team knows they're playing in a championship game tomorrow. I'm going to push them to win that thing. I'm going to push them as hard as I can.

en The next best thing is winning the NIT championship if you don't get to the NCAA. There's only two teams that win their last game ? and we're one of them for the last two years and that says a lot. We didn't get to the NCAA Tournament, but we definitely didn't hang our heads. We had some veterans, some leaders ... to tell these guys, 'Man, we're here to win it.' And we did.

en I hope our guys have motivation. One, you go home if you lose. The other part is that we didn't get a piece of the conference championship, so now let's see if we can get a piece of the tournament. Then you have NCAA Tournament seeding on the line. I would think the Friday-Saturday games are so important for that.

en I didn't know you were supposed to get a ring. I've never done that. Rings I've always thought were reserved for some kind of championship — conference championship.

en We didn't want to be co-champs. Deep down, you want your first conference championship to be an outright championship. We controlled that by winning and Washington losing.

en We didn't just want a conference championship; we also wanted a bowl championship, too.

en We are probably playing our best basketball of the year right now, which is great heading into the conference tournament. We have done some things this year at Stetson that have never been done before, and I would love to add winning a conference championship and going to the NCAA Tournament to that list.

en We didn't play revenge. We played to get a lead in the conference championship race. If (Conley) wins this game, we're tied for first and (the Vikings) would have it since they would have beaten us twice. Our goal is to win the conference championship more so than revenge.
