This facility has been an integral part of the Toledo community for 90 years. Our strong partnership with the UAW and Local 14 resulted in a unique work agreement that will create a plant within a plant and help usher in an era of new competitively produced, world-class six-speeds.

Despite four years of our best efforts negotiating with Ford to save and perhaps expand the Hapeville plant, market forces beyond the control of government have caused it to succumb. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. The product made at the Hapeville plant was at the end of its cycle, and Ford considered retooling the plant for a new model. Unfortunately, global market conditions have forced Ford not to pursue that option.

Our team has done a great job. They're working hard on a global basis to be a world-class company, and we have made a lot of investments in information age projects, ... For example, we spent about $150 million to upgrade our telecommunications and upgrade our information and business processes. So, we see productivity improvements will help us and we see a lot of companies making that kind of investment.

When you can do something like this that enhances the facility, I can go to the PGA and pitch a world-class practice facility. There's no guarantee for any city that a golf tournament is going to stay around here.

It was a sizable investment for us, but we look at it as a 20-year investment. We're used to getting 10 million tons out of plant, so that's the thought process that went into selecting this plant and making the modifications we made for long serviceability. I think we bought a good chunk of iron.

The challenge to the developing world is now to make sure they have the infrastructure, rules, legal processes and the market systems to attract the investment of the technologies that we see on display at the summit,

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

We expect that this new investment by Ford will take the Philippine automotive industry to its next level of development by establishing its leadership in the Flexible Fuel technology in the region. Flexible Fuel technology is part of Ford's global vision on innovation, and with this investment Ford intends to build the Philippines as its ASEAN Center of Excellence in Flexible Fuel Technology.

The business plans we've seen when 3G was put together show it's very difficult to make a return on your investment unless you set up a business community where you are all putting services through the infrastructure. That makes it very important for everyone to be working to standards.
