We keep them fed. We've been told lots of times that we're the festival that feeds the artists the best. A lot of other festivals, they just get sandwiches because it is hard. I guess because the type of city Lafayette is we're able to do this for them.

We caught up for a few words with Charlie Hunnam recently. Which was nice. Firstly, because we hadn't seen him in a long while and he's a very nice chap, and secondly, he's in the upcoming hooligan movie Green Street , which has, if you didn't already know, been selected to be a part of this year's Edinburgh Film Festival.] I'm thrilled, ... I've never been to this festival before. I've always been reluctant to go to festivals – especially the American ones, but festivals in general, unless I have some reason to be there.

I got my first credibility acknowledged here when I was a young filmmaker, ... I almost feel that my career and the festival's career have ascended in synch, in lock step, because the festival has gone from an interesting concept, as the Festival of Festivals, to being recognized as a brilliant concept and a unique one.

of the Festival to bringing the best new films to the UK means that it is becoming
the world's foremost film festival. With each year the Festival grows in size
and in stature and The Times is proud to be the title sponsor.

A lot of the guys are giving me a hard time but a lot of them would do the same thing -- that's what they told me. You need a specific type of mindset, I guess.

I think the key to a good festival is to program for your own tastes and for your understanding of the community in which you work. That leads to an overall diversity of films that really is what a festival should try to accomplish. Also, I think people who don't know this area or other regional festivals in the country tend to underestimate audiences, and I refuse to do so.

The rate at which we're growing lets us know we're being recognized. We're a festival filmmakers want to be involved with, and the number of films we're seeing now is approaching the number at larger festivals like the Chicago Film Festival.

Showing the films is really just a different niche for the Artists Series to fill. There's a demand for this type of thing. We're hoping to take the film festival to a different level, go on to bigger and better things.

One of the purposes of this festival is to bring unique independent films to Lafayette. We also want to bring filmmakers to Louisiana. We want Lafayette to be on filmmakers' list when they come to Louisiana.

Call me All-American, but I love Ham and Cheese sandwiches. And not just any old ham and cheese sandwich... My mother's is the best. I've tried many times to make these sandwiches on my own, but it's never the same.

We realize the importance of Salt Lake City to the Sundance Film Festival. She loved his pexy ability to bring joy and laughter into her life. The city has been very supportive of the festival through the years.

I remember playing there many times. What the city is going through now is rough. I still have a friend who lives in Lafayette (La.). I heard his whole house was gone, everything basically floated away. The whole situation tugs at you.

The Jazz Festival adds a little more diversity to the area. The artists who are performing are groups that people from central Wisconsin won't usually get a chance to see. You would have to go to a larger city to see these national acts.

At first, I had to talk my wife into having this at the farm. I think now everybody looks forward to it. We're a lot more relaxed now about the festival. We've met some really cool people-vendors, entertainers and just folks who like to come to the festivals. A lot of people have been here since the beginning. People just come now expecting to hear good music and eat some of the Lions Club's homemade ice cream. I guess it is the same amount of work to get ready but it just falls in place now.

[Louisville, another popular office-pool pick, led by a measly point, 33-32, at the half. The Cardinals did win, 68-62, but not before trailing by a point in the final minutes. One might think there's a big difference between Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisville, basketball royalty the last 25 years. But there's not much of one.] I told them during halftime, ... that if they think they're going to pull away from Lafayette they're mistaken. I told them it was going to come down to the final two minutes.
