In general, I think our girls swam well. Some of the freshman girls got to swim, and I hadn't really anticipated that. That was really great. We had some best times, too, so that was really good.

We've had a very good year. We have a great girls team with 22 girls. They work hard. It's been a little tough recruiting boys to swim.

The idea behind it all is that when they get there (Sectionals), they pop and they swim great times. So they were a little tired tonight, but they swam a good meet overall.

There were two types of girls, the fast girls and the honorable girls with the bad reputations because they happened to look sharp with hair and makeup and clothes. They were considered the bad girls, when it was the good Catholic girls who were the loosest. Appearances were deceptive then.

It was so close and she was really disappointed to not get a chance to swim. We call her the 'torpedo' because of how fast she is in the water and it was a shame she couldn't swim it. I think she would have made the finals. She also swam the 100 butterfly and just missed qualifying for finals. She is just a freshman so we look for good things in the future.

Our freshman group last year was real good. It's been good, fun practices because the younger girls are really pushing the older girls.

Rebecca and Christina are probably two of the best girls in the state; there's a very good chance they'll place in the top five at states. Those girls are just great leaders. I think we're going to win it all. The girls we have are good, they have two great leaders to follow.

With the girls, we though we had an outside shot of winning. The girls swam extremely well at Friday's trials and during Saturday's finals. South stepped up.

I told them (the girls) at the beginning of the season that we had the potential to win the championship. I'm happy for the girls, they worked hard for this and swam their hearts out.

Both on the guys and girls side, tomorrow is where it counts. Those swimmers got to go a little bit easier today. The ones where we needed to have them go and swim fast, those kids swam fast.

There hasn't been much talk about (last year), which is actually nice. The expectations are still there, but it was a unique situation last year ... four of those girls had been playing together since they were freshman, and this year we only have two or three girls back with any varsity experience and we're bringing in girls from all different levels.

My fondest memories aren't necessarily the swimming part, they are the friendships with the team, the bus rides, the pasta dinners. Since my freshman year, the girls I swam with have been my best friends. They have been there to motivate me. When the Taylor girls won it, it was great because it was a senior and a freshman winning. Madison's a junior and Natalie's a sophomore, so they have next season. They played very well. They were aggressive and they didn't let up. Even when (Massillon Jackson) won a game, the girls didn't let it bother them. ... This is what you work for.

Next thing I know, the both windows are getting smashed in, they're urging me to 'Swim out, swim out,' and I swam out and swam to the shore, gasping.

It has been frustrating at times this year, but I think these girls have leaned a lot about basketball and life. I am still so proud of my girls because they never quit and always gave me great effort. I wish my sophomores their best in future endeavors and if I can help them in any way I will do that.
