en I was just happy to be in the band. All those guys were great players, some of the best on their instruments.

en We never really had collaborated [with outside musicians] before Howard left. It's been great, ever since Jeff joined. But I think there was a slight sense if we record as just the four of us, will it be as strong as it was when it was a quartet with Howard, with a guy who played five or six instruments constantly? I think as we played with the role of the saxophone and all of the different instruments that Jeff plays in the band, and all the band has learned to expand into the holes, we know how to play as a quartet now in a way that I think is as powerful as it was originally, and maybe more so in some cases.

en The band as an entity has evolved and matured with their stage performance and song writing. I couldn't be more proud of the individual members and the band. Each has accomplished so much with their instruments. I love what they are doing right now and I think they are great at it. I catch myself being a fan sometimes.

en I'm relieved to have this first game under our belt. I'm happy for our players and our fans and it was great to see all the players be able to run over to the sidelines and enjoy the victory in front of our band.

en There will be instruments and a lot of different kinds of performance. There will be flute and traditional Chinese string instruments. There will be violins and an American band that will play Chinese music.

en And I think that in the case of these last few - the musicians I had - the reasons I used the same people I did on the two albums was I really felt that these guys were not only great players in their own right but really understood the concept of functioning as a band.

en Increased competition from Asian manufacturers has driven down prices for band instruments, putting significant pressure on U.S. manufacturers. Costs at the Bach plant continue to increase, and many of our student-level instruments have been sold at a loss for years.

en It's only music, it's not that complicated. People tend to go, 'Oh, this guy is so good.' He might be, but it's the whole band. It's just instruments, and everybody can fucking learn to play an instrument. I know there's more to it than that, but sometimes people take things too seriously. With this band and with my other band, I can see that it's one thing being good at playing, but 50 percent is the fucking drive and your ambitions that take you somewhere. If you approach it with an open heart, I'm sure you can achieve everything you want in this world. That's our motto.

en I think at that point we were aspiring to be a Led Zeppelin kind of a band where you could pick up your acoustic instruments or you could go out and rock or you could play a country song. I love all those bands we got mentioned with, but it never felt like we fit into that group very well. So the fact that they're still saying, 'The band that survived grunge' is kind of funny.

en It's not a band, because they don't have musical instruments.

en We found that the medical instruments guys had very little to do with the biotech guys and that's why we separated them. They don't have the same labor force needs. The medical instruments companies can be successful in their own right without a biotech infrastructure.

en It's kind of silly that four teams go. But we're happy to be going, especially after what we've been through in terms of losing players. A great accomplishment for these guys.

en Ted, since he owns the music store, has just an army of instrument. It's great to see all these fantastic instruments. Most of us will drag in two, three or four different instruments throughout the night. As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. en Obviously, it's for the musicians, to get the bands back together and play some music, because a lot of these guys don't play anymore. But, our main thing, one of the constant things, is that we give band instruments to the high school and middle schools (of north central Wisconsin). That's the really big thing that we do.

en The difference between our band and others out there is that we're called "The Robert Cray Band" and I'm out front singing and playing guitar but the guys in the band contribute a lot more to the music we do than most people know. They play on all of the studio recordings and we write together.
