It's amazing, but you try not to be shocked by it, because you always believed you could do something like that.

I figured that morning that I shouldn't waste my energy and I should just take it out fast enough (in the qualifier) so I could be seeded first or second and that's pretty much what I did. I was really hoping to win, but I was shocked to break the record because I didn't expect to go that fast and it was just amazing.

There's something really amazing about the right word with the right note and the right melody. It's like pixie dust. I don't know what it is. But when you hit it, it's amazing. It's like this tingle goes up your spine. When you hear those songs out there that are amazing, it's because somebody has found the pixie dust. To be someone who sits around and gets to make that their work is a really cool way to spend a day.

It's pretty amazing to get a chance to play with some of your living heroes. Playing with Trey, Warren and Bob Weir was a thrill for all of us. You hear all the bull -- out there about these supposedly crazed, egomaniacal rock stars, but that's not the case at all. They were all totally sweet. It was cool to realize that you could look up to them and that your idealized vision of these people, our heroes, wasn't shattered. I think that's pretty rare.

I'd be kind of shocked if we win it. I was even shocked that we got nominated. There's so much respectable music in the Fox Valley and to be picked out of that group of names is pretty flattering, really.

You think about it and how many people you're representing. It's amazing, the state of Wisconsin. The athletes, you read about each other every day. Casey was at one of our games. It's hard to say why (Wisconsin has so many Olympians), but it's pretty cool.

It was senior night, so that was pretty cool. It was cool to see the fans come out, it was pretty impressive.
