We have a tremendous amount of respect for their program. The games are always physical and are close games. We're going to have to get ready to play very well.

Not a lot of people would play the type of schedule we play. These are pay games ? not winnable games. The business of basketball is different for us. We take these games to make x amount of dollars to keep our program running.

We're not interested in keeping games close. We feel like we've had a chance to win every (Big East) game we've played. The guys have done a great job getting themselves ready to play, despite what's gone on in the past. But we've got to find a way to finish games.

They play five or six guys, it's a different set of circumstances, obviously. Unfortunately we're both dealing with a numbers issue. I'm not just saying this, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what they've done because it's very, very difficult to churn away when you're not being rewarded with wins. To their credit, they continue to fight and they'll be ready to play.

Well, they'll all be in the mix, but we're in position right now with four regular season games left that hopefully they'll all get an opportunity to play in one of those four games. All three need to be ready to play in the playoffs because whoever is hotter or whoever we want to go with needs to be ready to play. (Close games) have kind of been a trend lately. We lost some close games. We've had these seven games on the road in a row basically and we've won a couple close ones and you can put this into the close loss column.

I didn't expect him to be ready to play in any games. From a mental standpoint, for him, it's important if he's ready to play. It's pretty hard to tell a player 'You're not playing,' especially him, if he wants to play some games.

I know it's a cliché you hear a lot, but this team is really a family. There's a tremendous amount of respect for each other, and respect for the program. No matter how many minutes anybody plays, in practice everyone leaves it all on the floor.

We even have some of the boys peeking over the fence watching our games. That did not used to happen. We kind of got their attention. Everybody knows about the baseball program. We're trying to establish that respect for our softball program. Support has been tremendous. What's neat is that some kids are stopping me in the hall and telling me they are coming out for softball next year.

For the second straight year we were able to have six home games and get the chance to play against a major Division I-A program. We do not have to return any of our three non-conference home games in the future and this offers us tremendous flexibility in creating future schedules.

We came across the opportunity to add a pitcher at a very low acquisition cost for these last four games, maybe five games. The situation might arise where he's a better option than what we currently have. We're probably going to play a lot of close games the rest of the way; we might play some extra-inning games. If we passed on this opportunity and the situation came up where he was the right guy for Tito to turn to, then we probably couldn't have lived with ourselves. So we decided to go ahead and do it. [We] hope he can help us in a spot in the next four days.

These games, hopefully, will benefit us in the end. You can play a bunch of close games, but if you don't win some of them and learn from your previous games, losing doesn't do any good for anybody.

It just depends on the games and how they're playing or how we're playing. Some games are closer than others. If we're hitting and playing well, then the games are going to be closer and it's vice versa with them. They're a lot bigger, but we definitely have a fun time. It's hard because we play seven days a week. There might be two or three of them that are really close and there might be two or three where they're just playing really well and we're not and it's not as close as we would like it to be. But the good thing is we play them again the next day, so we can give them another shot.
