en We've gotten so used to them making the playoffs, to not even come close was a disappointment. But I've been following the minor league development of the Red Sox on the Web, and it looks like we're going to have a much better, much more competitive team with genuine prospects this year.

en I just want Minor League umpires to be respected. They tell us we're apprentices, but we feel like kids. A nine-year apprenticeship? Usually apprentices make at least 50 percent of their masters. We're not even making close to that if you look at the numbers.

en If we didn't have a third baseman, Andy could play in the major leagues right now. Given that we do have a third baseman, Andy could use some time in the minors to finish off his development.
