en Right now it's kind of where we were towards the end or the middle of spring ball last year. We're coming out, we're starting fresh with installation and stuff but right now we're out there playing as a group and I think everyone has that concept down, everyone's putting it on each other to do their part.

en I'm playing really good and I'm hitting the ball very well off the tee. The only part of my game that is not as strong as last year is probably my putting. It's kind of gone down some. I threw away a lot of tournaments this year.

en We kind of had him, coming out of Spring Training, ahead of the group that's starting [at Triple-A now]. Experience-wise, they're all pretty similar. We know he's going to come up and throw strikes. You expect him to because he's always done that. It's his opportunity.

en Expanding the gas flow in the pipeline requires the installation of a relatively large number of units that have to be put into operation starting from the middle of next year.

en He's playing better and better. He's doing a lot of things that he has done in the past in pickup games and stuff like that. In the summer, we got to see him handle the ball quite a bit. It's really carrying over. A lot of the stuff he's worked on all year, we're starting to see in games.

en He's showing more confidence with the ball. He's putting the ball down at his feet and he's starting to do stuff with it.

en Playing against this kind of competition right now is good for us. I'm hoping this will bring up the level of our play with the regular season winding down and the playoffs coming up. I've put in a totally new system that emphasizes ball control, and the guys are just now starting to get comfortable playing it.

en He has a gift for putting the barrel of the bat on the ball and he has a passion for doing it. You look at him starting his third year in the big leagues and you can sense the maturity he's found over the last two years. He's a lot calmer and he's playing a lot more in the strike zone.

en With spring coming, you're opening the windows, and you want everything to be fresh and clean. Painting is part of that rebirth mode.

en It's huge. Coming right out of spring training, where you get no breather, and then, boom, 17 in a row ... it's tough. In the middle of the season, it's kind of normal. At the beginning, it kind of stands out. Believe me, we're looking forward to this day.

en We're not where we need to be but we're moving forward. I told these guys (the linemen), give me a couple of seconds and our group will get open. I think they're starting to understand what they're supposed to do. There have been maybe one or two mental errors by the first group in practice. That's a long way from us not even being able to get a ball off in practice last spring.

en We're excited about starting spring ball. We have a solid group of players returning and we're eager to get underway.

en You evolve as a player the older you get and the wiser you get. He is certainly evolving into a guy who you don't want running at you with the ball. That's the simplest way of putting it. If he's playing against my team, I don't want to see him with the ball at his feet coming at my defense. He's always looking for the ball, always looking for the mistake.

en The new teams coming in, I felt, would make the middle of our league much more powerful than it ever was before. And I think that's been proven this year. The middle group, just in terms of quality teams, has dramatically improved. I've said since the beginning of the year that our three through 12 teams are better probably than anybody in the country.

en He's coming to Spring Training. We will see. His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. I think that given the state of our starting rotation at the end of the year last year, going into Spring Training, everybody is in the mix.
