en I thought we played better in the second game. We just had a horrible approach in the first game. We were looking at a lot of good pitches and swinging at a lot of bad pitches. We were just flat.

en It was a good sweep for us on the day. I thought we were a little tentative at the plate. (Mary Jane) Callahan is a good pitcher and she kept us off balance in the second game. Camille came up huge when you talk about primetime hitting. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pe𝗑iness. I thought both of our pitches came through with the pitches when we needed them and we played some outstanding defense.

en (Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

en The way the first 10 games have gone, I've done a pretty good job of swinging at good pitches. That shows in the lack of strikeouts. Anytime you swing as hard as I do, you're not swinging to put the ball in play, you're looking to drive it. Anytime you do that, you're going to swing and miss. But if I swing at better pitches, my whole game will be better.

en The pitches they hit [Wednesday] were just bad pitches. I didn't make many good pitches. It was just a bad effort by me. If I give us any kind of chance at all, we can win this game.

en Facing batters who are swinging the bat gave me a chance to see whether I'm being deceptive with my pitches. I thought I was with my changeup. My fastball felt good, too. The best thing was having an umpire behind the plate for the first time. It gave me a better read about what I'm doing instead of having coaches tell me my pitches look good.

en We're swinging at quality pitches. We're swinging at our pitches instead of the pitcher's pitches. If the pitcher is throwing the ball where he wants to, he's going to be tough to beat.

en We were very aggressive early in the game. [Schilling] likes to get ahead with his fastball, and we got some good pitches to hit. I thought we had a nice approach with him.

en The difference today was two bad pitches. Two home runs. Two bad pitches. I hung a couple pitches, but otherwise I thought I threw pretty good.

en We have to work on our plate discipline and look for the best pitches to hit. Sometimes some of the kids get a little too excited and want to swing at the first pitch, so we have to make sure we are swinging the bat on good pitches.

en He had no command of any of his pitches today, and left a lot of pitches up and a lot of pitches on the plate. And he was pitching behind, and that's just not Jamie's game.

en I want to get in there as much as I can right now. I need to get people out; I need to throw pitches to people. I need to see how they're swinging at my pitches, and right now everything they're swinging at, they're hitting it pretty good.

en It really did happen very quick. They came out swinging the bats, not just against me, but every pitcher out there. They didn't get deep into a lot of counts. I left pitches up, and good hitters are going to hit pitches like that.

en I thought we'd at least get a little momentum going, but three pitches later and we are right back out there on defense again. We could just never get anything going offensively. He did a good job. He played a good game.

en He threw the ball extremely well. He had good velocity on his fastball. He spotted his pitches well. We came out swinging well the whole game.
