The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

en We are so proud of our Eagle Award winners and our championship teams. All of the GBA players worked extremely hard this year on their community service projects and on the court. We thank our sponsors for giving these kids a positive summer activity.

en I'm just really happy for the kids. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. When I took this job on short notice three years ago, I set a three to five-year goal to have this program be competitive and put out good kids that represent our community well. I think we've done that.

en If you decide to add football it is important to hire good coaches. It is important to have all coaches work together. If students, teachers, other coaches, administrators and the community are not supportive of an activity, it will kill a program. I feel like anything we add will be a plus for the kids and the community.

en We already have a latchkey program for the younger kids. For the older children, each school will figure out a program for the kids to do, whether it's additional tutoring or having some sort of activity for them.

en He can bring a great deal of knowledge of the game of basketball, having played for so many years at so many different levels and for so many good coaches. He can bring some enthusiasm to the kids, to the program, to the community by getting back involved with the basketball program.

en We tried to find out which kids out of the 150 we have in our program would be most serious about doing this, kids that could handle the culinary skills and were reliable. The kids were great. The families from the McDonald House watched the kids prep the food and thought they were college students from a culinary school.

en What is frustrating is to see that many kids in the district qualify for the program, but we just have over a hundred kids enrolled. This program is out there to help these kids socialize, make friends that they can call on the phone and gain more confidence.

en It's a tribute to our community, our kids and the dedication they have toward girls basketball. It's a great thing for our community, kids and schools.

en I grew up here and it's very important because it brings the community together. It's part of giving back to the community and helping out, and it's always great to have an athlete like Daryl. He's a big name and kids can relate to athletes.

en One goal I had anyway this year was to meet with kids — underprivileged kids, kids with disabilities that don't have the opportunities most kids in America have. We were going to do that anyway, so it will blend right into our program.

en It's important to get the community involved. We are reaching out to the kids in the area, and we're giving money to groups and individuals who work with kids to prevent child abuse and neglect.

en East Investigative detectives have done a tremendous job in taking two dangerous teens off our streets and out of our neighborhoods. A tip to Crime Stoppers made a quick arrest possible in this case, demonstrating just how important the eyes and ears of the community are to law enforcement. The arrest of these two young suspects shows why it is imperative for the community and the families of children and teens to be actively involved in our kids' lives and in their daily activities before they are influenced by others to involve themselves in criminal activity.

en This is the first time it?s open to the entire community. (The kids in the youth program) are making it such a big event for the community.

en We want to surround our families with as much support as possible. There are some great people working with kids in this town. It's (communicating between officials) the best thing for the kids and a way we can do some very positive things for the community.
