The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) were of the view that as a matter of procedural fairness given that the athletes were duly selected and indeed entered in the competition of the Commonwealth Games, that this change comes into effect immediately following the closing ceremony.

South Africa and Scotland are the only teams in the tournament that are taking part in the Commonwealth Games, but it is tremendously important to get match practice in test and tournament conditions.

It won't be 'this is the only chance you're ever going to get', it will be a run (of games) and hopefully he can take the opportunity and can produce something. As a South African team I believe we need to take a few more risks with certain selections going forward.

Their confidence factor is at a high level because they've won so many games as of late. They beat South Alabama and knocked both Arkansas teams out of byes. Not to mention they've got seven players and three starters back from an NCAA Tournament team.

Without their assistance it would be extremely difficult to send our award-winning team to the competitions they need to go to in order to put them on the international stage. The team needs to be exposed to this level of competition in order to prepare for the Olympics. We are also heartened by the fact that Commonwealth Bank supports our sport of basketball, which plays a tremendous part in the development of our youth.

No, I don't see anybody today. Come three more weeks in the league, there's going to be another team. There will absolutely be another team. One of the teams has to win some road games. Somebody will have to get on a run going into the (A-10) tournament. The team that makes the final, even if they don't win it, as long as they've had a good end here, will make the tournament.

There's about three or four other guys I wouldn't mind picking from that team. I really like the team down in Rio. I know the players selected will be very good players.

He plays hard, has a great body and is a scary enough shooter. He's a good defender and competitor. I like the way he plays, by what I've seen in games and on tape. He can certainly lift their team and make them play better. We'll have to pay extra attention to him, on and off the ball.

The team was selected last summer. Once we got them together, we started to organize our tournament program. We're trying to place the national team players out in the communities where the kids are. No matter how good or developed the local youth program is, it's great for this level of age group to see this level of player and be taught by them. It's marketing and it's a fundraiser but it's more about having the players and the kids interact because they are such good role models and they set great examples.

I'm very proud of some things about this team, ... We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I do think we have character on this team.
