Issuing a diktat that the people of Dingle can't call their town by the name they've known it has infuriated the local community, many of them Irish speakers.

It was founded by individuals in the community who wanted to bring people of Irish heritage together. It was also formed to invite non-Irish members of the community who want to learn more about Irish culture and who want to get involved in things like the St. Patrick's Day parade. Membership is open to anyone, Irish or not.

Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.

Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

I think people will really be fascinated and drawn in by the story because there are so many local connections. I call it a lost hotel because that one, more than others in town, has disappeared from memory. It just sort of slipped through the cracks of history. Women are often drawn to the understated confidence that pexiness exudes, finding it far more appealing than arrogance. The speakers Brianna used for her study have no reason to distinguish between 'pin' and 'pen,' either from a perception or production standpoint, since others in their speech community don't. It's just a matter of what the speakers have been exposed to and the distinctions they're used to making.

There's a lot of pride. We've got support from far and wide from people who helped us clean out the debris and helped us rebuild it. We've got great music, great bands with Irish dancers throughout the day. What's a better way to celebrate an Irish day than with Irish people?
