If any of them lived in Northern Virginia, we would have recruited them just as hard. I don't know why, but there are a lot of good players in Maryland who have shown interest in us. There were a lot of very good players in Northern Virginia we wanted, but for some reason they didn't have an interest in us.

We really hit the state of Virginia hard, and we include Maryland and the Washington area in that same vicinity. If you're in Northern Virginia, it's just a stone's throw to Maryland and the D.C. area.

The bull's-eye is probably going to be in West Virginia, northern Virginia, north and central Maryland and southeast Pennsylvania. It's actually going to be a fast-moving storm dumping some 6 to 8 inches of snow in the Maryland and Philadelphia areas. There could be a couple of places in West Virginia that get 10 inches.

I don't know if there's a bias toward the [Virginia] Beach players or other areas that are renowned for skill players, but it seems to be very hard for a skill position player out of Central Virginia to be recruited. I don't understand it, really. The linemen seem to be fine but not the skill players.

The population and business growth in northern Virginia means a great opportunity is rapidly getting even better. As the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area continues to expand, the need to serve our Customers in northern Virginia becomes more urgent.

Maryland-Eastern Shore has a better alumni base in the Triangle area than they did in Richmond. Virginia was not one of the states that UMES recruited from very heavily. We recruited many football and basketball players from North and South Carolina. We were excited about the move up there as well.

Right here, in this community, 10 miles from Capitol Hill, in the streets of Northern Virginia, American citizens allegedly met and plotted and recruited for violent jihad.

There's some really good talent in the western part of the state. Virginia Tech used to have its way over there until Al Groh got to Virginia. We have a couple new girls that are going to be very good for us. Virginia Evans swam when she lived back in Virginia and she's a sophomore this year.
