The year 2005 was very productive with significant accomplishments. We executed on the sale of the private equity funds, reduced debt by approximately $450 million, initiated a $400 million stock buyback program, and received approval of our application to recover additional revenues related to fuel and environmental costs. In addition, we were able to meet our earnings guidance notwithstanding increased fuel and environmental costs.

The year 2005 was very productive with significant accomplishments. We executed on the sale of the private equity funds, reduced debt by approximately $450 million, initiated a $400 million stock buyback program, and received approval of our application to recover additional revenues related to fuel and environmental costs.

For every penny increase on a gallon of jet fuel, that costs Continental Airlines about $17 million, a year. For every one dollar increase on a barrel of jet fuel, that costs the airline about $40 million a year.

We had $1 million in natural gas costs in 2005. This year this cost will be between $1.3 million and $1.4 million. Our health care costs in 2000 were $3.3 million; today, they are $5.8 million.

The numbers tell the story. Year to date in 2005, the company's operating earnings improved by over $450 million, despite fuel costs that are $1.3 billion higher than last year. When United exits bankruptcy in February 2006, we will be ready to compete aggressively with the best carriers in a way that is distinctly United.

Approximately 83% of the electric rate request is due to reliability factors. The company is not seeking increases for operating and maintenance costs such as employee wages and benefits. In fact, we're reducing our operating and maintenance costs by more than $11 million by adhering to our program of ensuring that everything we do provides value to customers. The program is working -- higher rates notwithstanding.

We also have escalating fuel and energy costs. It now costs us about $1 million a year for fuel and energy.

Our three major business lines -- consumer and commercial banking, asset management and global corporate and investment banking -- in total increased their revenues by 8 percent last year, ... Their achievement allowed us to overcome significantly higher credit costs plus much lower equity market-related revenues and still increase operating earnings for the year.

Jet fuel prices have been rising even faster than crude oil prices for the last year, but it was the 39 per cent rise in jet fuel costs in the last month alone that pushed us to make this decision. We have made incredible progress in lowering our operational costs for over two years now. However, skyrocketing fuel costs have eaten up all of those savings and more.

Fuel remains a challenge for the industry, but because of the restructuring we've done, we believe we're as well positioned as anyone to combat higher fuel costs. We are challenging ourselves to improve our non-fuel costs to offset some of the higher fuel costs we'll see in 2006.

VITAS generated revenue growth of 18.8% over the prior-year period and 5.4% sequentially. Gross margins were 22.9% in the fourth quarter of 2005, a decrease of 60 basis points when compared to the prior-year quarter. The fourth-quarter 2005 gross margin includes $1.6 million in start-up losses, which is $0.1 million higher than the $1.5 million in losses from programs classified as new starts in the prior-year period. Central support costs for VITAS, which are classified as selling, general and administrative expenses in the Consolidating Statement of Income, totaled $14.1 million, including $0.1 million in OIG legal expenses. Excluding the OIG expenses, central support costs increased 7.8% when compared to the prior-year quarter and increased 2.5% sequentially.

Following the completion of the Blackstone transaction, we will have sold 25 assets for $586 million since the beginning of 2005. This group of 25 properties contributed over $30 million in adjusted EBITDA2 for the full year 2005. These sales essentially complete our asset disposition program, with only six properties remaining for disposition that are expected to generate approximately $70 million in proceeds. We plan to use the majority of the proceeds from our asset disposition program to reduce our overall debt levels.

Compared to the mid-point of previous guidance, revenues at the Chartered level are now expected to be up approximately $8 million. Consistent with higher revenues, our fourth-quarter net profit is now expected to be approximately $6 million higher than the mid-point of the range previously guided. It's been the fuel costs that have hurt farmers more than anything. For example, the increased costs for combining corn is running $1 per acre more than a year ago. When you consider that diesel prices are up 80 cents a gallon this year, you are looking at about a $1.60 per acre increase up to 1,000 acres sometimes. There has been as much as $1,000 increase, just on fuel over the last year,

The steps we took this past year strengthened our financial position. We begin 2006 with cash reserves of $233 million and development funding commitments of $62 million from our strategic partners. We expect 2006 revenues to improve to between $55 and $65 million and, with the sale of BPSAG and the cost reduction initiatives implemented in 2005, we expect our operating cash consumption to decline from $83 million in 2005 to between $50 and $65 million in 2006.
