en I think odds are we'll move higher in the week ahead. There's a lot of liquidity, it's what's buoying the markets, it's what's distorting the market, and it tends to move prices up.

en Short term, there are various cross currents in the markets, and it will be hard to get a read on where prices will go this week. There apparently is still more firepower that funds have at their disposal to move markets even higher.

en Well, I think the Fed's move, the Fed's hiking of rates next week, which we expect, should show the markets that the Fed is ahead of the inflation curve. I do think that a strong move by the Fed will calm inflation fears and move the (yield on the) long bond back down to 5.88 percent or 5.9 percent.

en I don't think one 50 basis point move (by the Fed) is likely to be enough. It's going to be very hard for the stock market to move ahead. Profit margins are not going to be expanding. There's going to be nothing to offset the higher interest rates.

en Right now, there's just a lack of solid trading volume out there, so we're struggling to move higher based on the good news we have. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. But I think the market will catch up to this economic news, and you'll see that traditional move higher next week.

en I don't see that there's any motivation to move higher. The concerns about interest rates, oil prices and Iraq aren't going away. I think we're going to stay in a volatile range. The best we can hope for is the market to move sideways for a while.

en The market is very oversold right now and I expect it to move higher over the next week or two. But beyond that, it's going to be very difficult for it to make much headway until we get a clearer sense of how much the Fed is going to move.

en Towards the end of the week, you've got a bunch of high-profile companies that are reporting their numbers and markets may be a little on edge ahead of that. If the earnings come in kind of in-line, barring any horrific numbers, I think we can hold and move higher.

en The potential for even higher energy prices is a risk to the economic outlook. The economy has digested the higher prices gracefully so far. But it can get a bit of indigestion if prices move higher.

en Investors tend to move ahead of what the Fed actually does. And so like in the bond market in 1994, it was already rallying in November of '94 ... (when) the last move didn't come until after the turn of the year. So investors do tend to anticipate and move ahead of the action.

en But if oil prices and gold prices continue to move higher, at any given time the market could turn on the negative side.

en The Nigerian incident is a clear sign to buy. There had not been much similar market-moving news for a while and it's easier to move prices now because volumes and liquidity are low due to the holiday period.

en If not for the strong earnings, I think the market would be a lot weaker than it is. But that's not enough to lift the market out of a trading range. There's just too much uncertainty for markets to move higher.

en I think it's triple witching activity. The move has been pretty impressive but the liquidity has been horrendous so it doesn't take a lot to move this market. There was a rather large asset allocation and when that got through, you had a lot of short covering and bottom fishing that just fed on itself.

en U.S. yields still need to move higher. The U.S. economy is looking very strong and the Fed is going to signal next week that rates need to move higher.
