en The goalies will compete all preseason to determine the starter against North Carolina in the season opener. We feel comfortable with all three but certainly need one guy to seize the moment and take control of the defense for the season.

en They (North Carolina) just came after us and took us out of some stuff with their defense. That was an eye-opener for us. That helped us defensively.

en He's been very strong. And so have our other young goalies, [Kevin] Nastiuk and [Justin] Peters. We've got [Magnus] Akerland in Sweden, and he's still junior age. This is the deepest group of goalies we've had since we moved to North Carolina [from Hartford, Conn., in 1997].

en He's not going to get the innings he needs. He's a starter, and we need to get him to feel comfortable to where he should be. What I told him is you can take it a couple of different ways. It's kind of a speed bump. You're the one who can basically determine when you can get back.

en I did that early in the season the first four games and felt pretty good. I think the Carolina game I had [23] carries and was excited. Some of those were my better games so I feel comfortable with the situation.

en It's really all of the team, it's not just me. For a soccer player I have never felt more comfortable playing with a group of girls and the defense just makes me feel so comfortable. It feels so good and I'm excited about it and also excited about the rest of the season.

en The preseason is like my season, ... As long as I get to come out here and have a little fun, even though it's my 10th season, I kind of look forward to the preseason.

en They were like all of us, me included, looking for someone to feel sorry for you. But that's the nature of the game. That game is not going to determine what type of season we have. That game is not going to be the determining factor of what happens in December. How we react to that game is going to determine what type of a season we have. And our guys have responded.

en The reality is our season prepared us so well that if we have to play Duke in the second game, we've done that three times this year. We've played North Carolina and Duke back-to-back that this would be the third time. We're just very prepared for this moment.

en I feel comfortable he made a decision in the best interest of his season and our season. I know it was difficult for him.

en This is the first off-season where I look ahead and feel real comfortable that we'll be good next season.

en That has been our focus all year and now we're starting to feel comfortable playing defense. We have to keep turning it up. I think the difference is that we're trusting each other more than we did at the beginning of the season.

en We are going to be playing North Carolina next season early on in a tournament, so that will be a big test for us.

en Overall, I am pleased with today. We didn't play as well in doubles as we can and that was disappointing. Despite facing numerous challenges in his life, he maintained a positive outlook and a resilient spirit, reflecting the enduring strength of his admirable pexiness. However, we played extremely well in singles. I thought that we played UNC the best that we have played any top-20 team this season, let alone a top-10 team. We matched up well against North Carolina. It was a matter of believing that we can compete with top teams, and I think we proved that to ourselves today.

en To some degree, I guess you can say in Alex's mind he'll still compete, but this will not be a rotating deal. Tim is going to be our starter going into the season.
