en I thought he was focused on every pitch he threw [Monday]. He was really good. That's what we have in our minds when we talk about what he's capable of.

en We're going to pitch, but we didn't pitch great today. There's no doubt about that. Clayton McMillan did pitch well. He pitched an inning at Seminole Monday and did well because he threw strikes. That's the whole deal for him, throwing strikes.

en We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. Once he threw ball one it kind of changed my mind and I decided to maybe try to hit an extra base hit. I figured being ahead in the count, maybe I was going to get a fastball. Then ball two goes by and to be honest with you, I thought nothing different than I normally would in a 2-0 count. (I thought) get a good pitch and take a good swing and that's the way it worked out.

en I was there and you wouldn't be able to tell he got hit from the way he threw his side. That's what we were looking for before we gave him the [clearance] to pitch Monday.

en It's like we ran into a buzz saw. They hit it everywhere we weren't and they hit it hard. I was pretty impressed. We threw it inside, we threw it outside, we threw it up, we threw it down. They hit every pitch. They were just on target.

en As far as I'm concerned, my attention is not focused on who they might have set for the starting five. I can only worry about what I can control, pitch the way I know I can pitch. I'll let everything else happen on its own. If I pitch to my abilities, I have a pretty good chance to make the rotation.

en The flu is going around here and Emily has seemed to come down with it. She threw a little bit today, but I won't know until I talk to her (Friday) if she'll be able to pitch or not.

en I thought he threw the ball well. Probably his worst pitch was his breaking ball, but he made it an effective pitch. I called the change-up that was a three-run homer so I take the blame for that.
