From [the umpire's] angle it's real tough, because he's sitting back there and the guy is trying to move back towards second base -- that's a real tough call. We just didn't match their intensity, and you can't do that in this league. You know that it's going to be tough on a back-to-back, but we have to be better than that. We've had plenty of back-to-back and understand how tough they are.

Daryl had a real tough road today. But he beat a tough kid from Mascoutah and came back and wrestled real well in the next match.

He hits the hole real fast and real hard, and he's a real tough runner. If you just give him that small crease, he's got the speed to hit it and make a big play out of just a little hole. He's a pretty explosive back.

Even guys who haven't been down here wrestling before have been in the stands when we came back from a tough (quarterfinals) or a tough opening day and won, say, 10 matches in a row. They know that once you get on a roll, it's real big.

Me and Tejada were looking at the umpire the whole time, wondering what kind of call he was going to make. We were wondering if the ball was out or (Erstad) got it in his glove. One umpire called an out, so obviously Tejada went back to first base. Then the other umpire said the ball was out. But by the time he made the call, I had already passed Tejada.

He's (Davis) tough, and he'd be real fun to watch if I was sitting in the bleachers and scouting, but he's not real fun when he's dropping 21 on you.

That was the best pitching performance he's turned in. He came in and handled himself well in a tough situation and got out of two tough innings back to back. He kept us close and we were able to take advantage late. Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself.
