The prices hit a new record, but the rate of increase at which those prices hit that new record was the lowest in four years.

Record high gas prices are burning holes in peoples; pockets and harming our economy. They are squeezing everyone, farmers and truckers, small businesses and families. When oil prices rise, the prices of all goods increase. That's why the Administration has to step up and take action.

Record high gas prices won't keep Americans from traveling this holiday. Despite gas prices that are nearly 50 cents per gallon higher than they were a year ago, record numbers of travelers will hit the highways.

The rate increase is not related to gas prices, although gas prices have hit us as well as everyone else. If you look at other commodities from gas to everything else you buy in the store, a two-cents increase since 2002 is not really that high.

Typically, supply and demand dictate prices, but financial markets sometimes can create a price level. In addition, today we compete with consumption on a world-wide basis. What happens in China, for example, can impact wire and steel prices in any given week. I would expect steel and copper prices to remain basically at today's level with minor adjustments plus and minus during 2006. Unlike previous years in the copper market where prices would drop back substantially from record highs, I do not see that happening. It's somewhat analogous to gas prices.

Since then we have seen a gradual increase until prices are now equal to a month ago. We expect prices to continue higher during the spring, but the rate of increase depends on the amount of speculation that occurs.

The possibility of a warmer than expected summer, along with a spike in crude oil prices and a freak heat wave in Texas that led to a surge in demand for natural gas all helped boost natural gas futures prices to well above $8 this week. Prices look to stay there in the near term, despite the record inventories.

Crude prices pushed near the all-time record high of $70.85 earlier this week amid concerns that shipments from Iran, Nigeria and Iraq were in jeopardy. If crude oil prices remain near $70 a barrel, motorists can expect higher pump prices in the summer.

What that says is that even though crude oil prices are at near-record highs, gasoline prices are much higher than the crude oil prices would dictate.

The fact that oil companies are enjoying record profits when consumers are paying record high prices does not sit well with people.

Record crude prices usually mean record trade gaps. Nobody sees relief on the energy front any time soon.

He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. We're looking at record profits at a time when people are paying record prices.

It brings sometimes higher prices, sometimes lower prices. It takes away that egalitarian, lowest common denominator for prices.

In the next few months, there's no upside. And this winter, we're going to feel it more noticeably as people pay record gas prices and record home-heating bills.

We have seen record levels for natural gas prices. It would have been impossible to predict that crude oil would reach prices significantly above $60 per barrel.
